HUMANISTIC GOALS

Do Secular Humanists have an agenda and a goal? Notice the following quote: “I am convinced that the battle for humankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role as the proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians call divinity in every human being. These teachers must embody the same selfness dedication as the most rabid fundamentalist preachers, for they will be ministers of another sort, utilizing a classroom instead of a pulpit to convey humanist values in whatever subject they teach, regardless of the educational level—preschool day care or large state university. The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and the new—the rotting corpse of Christianity, together with all its adjacent evils and misery, and the new faith of humanism.” (Page, 26, A Religion for a New Age, The Humanist, by John Dunphy, January-February 1983)
It would seem that the humanism agenda is working very well. Immoral and depraved behaviors that in time past were generally hidden from society are now open and brazenly being pushed on our culture as normal and acceptable. “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness…” (Galatians 5:19) (Further study Romans 1:24-32) The Humanistic goal is to make our Nation, the USA into a secular society and to do away with Christianity—according to John Dunphy “the rotting corpse of Christianity."
Do we Americans really want a godless worldly society? If our Nation becomes void of any concepts of God, our Creator, who is the authority and giver of morality, will we be people that are more civil, safer and happier? Do we really want to give up the teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and renounce our Founders proven civilizing system for “the new faith of humanism”?
Humanistic goals may be reached and the anything goes crowd may well destroy America along with the vision and intent of our Founders. If this happens, we will cease being One Nation under God. The truth is that no meager manmade organizations can remove God’s fixity of morality. Societies may flounder. Struggle and fall but ethical/morality standards will always stand true.“There are many devices in man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.” (Proverbs 19:21)
We ponder and wonder how many humanitarian and charitable establishments this ungodly secular religion of Humanism would foster. As a matter of fact, can we name any benevolent institutions that have been founded and maintained by atheistic and humanistic organizations? John Dunphy understood that if the classroom can be conquered with humanistic teachers, their goals could be reached. Sadly, many of our institutions of higher education are cramped full of such teachers.
Christianity is under attack from all quarters. Our need and goal are to love and respect the inspired Word of God. We must “…contend earnestly for the faith which was once delivered to the saints.” (Jude 3) “…be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58) Try as the Humanist may, they will never destroy nor defeat Christianity. The church of Christ will always triumph because, “…the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18).
