HTP Instructor Memo – July 2013

Summer is really rolling along! We are having a great Summer filled with fun and productive work and we hope that you are as well. There are so many good things happening right now in Healing Touch, the energy has definitely shifted into one of growth and hopefulness.
We are especially thrilled to announce that the Healing Touch Integrative Care Program: Integrating Healing Touch in the Clinical Setting (HTICP) manual was unveiled at the American Holistic Nurses (AHNA) Conference at the beginning of June in Norfolk, VA. This comprehensive manual provides a step by step process and the tools necessary to implement Healing Touch in hospitals, clinics, hospices and other healthcare facilities.

The HTICP takes us one step close to realizing Janet Mentgen's goal of having Healing Touch in every healthcare facility. The manual received rave reviews at the conference and we sold copies there. Also the last HTPA business interview call was with Sue Walker who reviewed the contents of the manual. You can hear a recording of the call for free:

Instructor Advancement Level 2 and 3 Packets Updated
In Fall 2012 new criteria were added to the instructor advancement packets related to the teachings of Brugh Joy and Barbara Brennan. Visit the Instructor Advancement page on the website to download the updated packets.

Level 1 Notebook Revised and Reprinted in April 2013
We need to bring to your attention that we have printed the new 7th edition Level 1 notebooks in two different print runs. After the initial printing in October 2012 we realized that we were missing the Preparation for Level 2 article.
In the April 2013 edition we added the Preparation for Level 2 article on page 112 in Part 5 right before the Appendix. This has shifted the appendix by 2 pages.
In addition the appendices were relabeled and some material rearranged. If you are teaching from the October 2012 edition and your students have the April 2013 edition after page 112 the notebooks will not match.
In October when the new 7th edition notebooks came out we felt that there was significant content enhancement and change in the order of how the material was presented and we offered to give each instructor a free copy when they order their notebooks for their students. You may have received your free Instructor copy in that initial print run. If you are ordering new notebooks for your students you will notice that any material that you reference in the Appendix will be in a different order, and you may wish to purchase a new instructor copy to maintain consistency with the student copies in your class.
Note: The HTP office has only 64 copies of the 6th edition Level 1 Notebooks Printed in February 2011 left in stock. These notebooks have been discounted to $15 each. If you still have a supply of this 6th edition, and desire to use up your old notebooks, and need a few extra to make enough for your class you can call the office and order these older editions while they last. You can use these in your classroom to teach Level 1. We do not recommend having mixed 6th and 7th editions – this could cause a lot of confusion for your students and yourself.
Coordinators Corner

INCLUDES:
• Sunday Continental Breakfast and Buffet Lunch
• 6 Continuing Education hours
AGENDA:
Many instructors have expressed interest in seeing how to teach concepts, principles and methods for these three foundation stone courses. We will make this a fun and interactive time of visiting these three classes which will serve a few purposes:
• Update you on any changes within each level.
• Refresh your learning!
• See examples of effective ways to teach various sections of the courses and methods.
• Have an opportunity to ask specific questions.
In addition to the review and instructor training, we will also:
1) Be Introduced to a learning program called "Clean Language". In this one hour presentation by Barbie Starke, we will learn the basics of how to dialogue with clients according to the framework of Clean Language. Created by Marian Way, this program educates coaches, practitioners and other interested people in increasing our awareness of how we communicate and how to empower those we work and communicate with.
Why are we including this as part of the instructor gathering?
It's so important for us to strengthen our abilities to help people to tell their story--without our input, answers, opinions, judgments, etc. We are aware that many practitioners want to "fix" clients rather than empower them to discover how to strengthen their ability to self heal.
2) Provide important updates about accreditation, HTP services and HTP growth.
3) Have an Open Forum with HTP leadership to discuss whatever the instructors are interested in knowing.
