PEATC/HSC Foundation LEAP Grant Announcement
PEATC in partnership with The HSC Foundation is pleased to announce the distribution of LEAP grants up to $1000 to young adults with disabilities in transition.
The purpose of the Life Enrichment Awards Program (LEAP) is to enrich the lives of youth and young adults with disabilities and chronic illnesses and at-risk youth in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. LEAP provides goods and services directly linked to youth transition planning and implementation usually not available from public service and government agencies; not covered by Medicaid or private insurance; and not considered “medically necessary.” As a life enrichment program, LEAP does not fund “life necessity” goods and services. For example, the program does not generally fund food, clothing (except business clothes needed for school or job interviews), medicine, direct medical service, or housing.
Legal residents of the Washington, DC metropolitan area, up to Baltimore, MD and down to Richmond, VA who are between the ages of 14 and 25 and actively engaged in the transition process will be eligible to receive program awards.
Individuals may apply for a LEAP grant through PEATC if they live in one of the following Virginia jurisdictions:

Please be aware this is a rolling award opportunity. Once the funds for LEAP have been exhausted, the awarding process will be closed. Please apply early for the best possibility of obtaining an award.
Documentation required:
Direct payment will be sent to vendors for goods and services. Please include a budget that addresses exact costs and fees and vendor contact information so that funds can be transferred in a timely manner.
If grant money is to be used for post secondary education or training facility please provide proof of registration and the contact information of the office where the check should be sent. (example: NO VA Community College Tuition Bill, Completed Registration, and Bursars Office Contact info)
