Chorus Guidelines
Welcome to Phifer Middle School Chorus! I’m excited for the wonderful music we will be making together this year! Below you will find some important details pertaining to this course, including concert dates, as well as rehearsal expectations and my attendance and discipline policy. Please fill out the bottom portion of this form and return with a parent/guardian signature, indicating that they are aware of the course requirements.
Concert Dates:
Winter Concert Wednesday, December 21 at 7:00pm
Spring Concert Thursday, May 18 at 7:00pm
Choral Festival Trip Friday, May 26 - all day
Grade Components:
o Regular and prompt rehearsal attendance.
o Proper rehearsal etiquette and behavior.
o Concert attendance – MANDATORY…Mark your calendars now!!! J
o Proper concert etiquette and behavior.
o Sight singing and repertoire exams.
Chorus Rehearsal Rules:
o Be respectful, polite and prepared at all times.
o Absolutely NO gum in rehearsals.
o NO talking at inappropriate times.
Rehearsal Times and Days:
o 8th Grade Full Chorus: A Days during PIE Period (1:45-2:26pm).
8th Grade Sectionals: 12:05-12:25pm (second half of 7th period).
o 7th Grade Full Chorus: A Days during PIE Period (1:45-2:26pm).
7th Grade Sectionals: 11:11-11:27am (first half of 6th period).
o Rehearsal schedule will be posted outside my door by Monday morning for the week AND will be texted via Remind 101 each morning...PLAN AHEAD!!!
Attendance and Discipline Policy:
o 3 unexcused lates = 1 unexcused absence
o 3 unexcused absences = drop from chorus
o 1 out of school suspension = drop from chorus
o 2 alternative education days (internal) = drop from chorus
o Inappropriate behavior in rehearsal may result in drop from chorus.
o Failing grades and poor behavior in academic classes may result in drop from chorus.
