First-Time Attendees
Welcome! If this is your first RESULTS conference, you may find the first session at 8:00 am on Saturday very helpful.
If you would like to meet other first-time conference attendees, please meet Lisa Marchal for a Meet and Greet at the Hotel Lobby Bar on on Sunday morning from 8:15am – 8:45am.
Social Media Action during the International Conference
We’re living in an increasingly digital world and online advocacy is one of the quickest, easiest, and important ways we take action and spread the word about the issues we care about. That’s why we ask that if possible please bring your laptop, tablet computer, or smart phone to the IC. We’ll be live-tweeting throughout the IC, and we want you to be part of it! We request that cell phones be turned off or placed on vibrate while the conference is in session.
Weather and Attire
Daytime temperatures will be 80-95°F/17-28°C, with high humidity during the day, and 65-75°F/18-23°C at night, unless there’s a heat wave, in which case the night can remain hot. The hotel suites and rooms will be air-conditioned. Rain is usual, so bring an umbrella.Please dress comfortably, but note that you will want to dress up (jackets and ties, dresses, etc.) for your Tuesday lobby day visits.

Crystal City and Pentagon City Area
The hotel is located in an area of Arlington, VA known as Crystal City. Click here for a map and directory of the area.
Pentagon City Fashion Centre Mall is a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and there is a free shuttle that runs every 30 minutes.
Pentagon Row is an upscale outdoor shoppingcenter adjacent to the Fashion Centre Mall.
Crystal City Shops is an area near the hotel with many dining options.

From Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
The hotel offers a free shuttle from DCA to the hotel every 15 min from Terminal A, door 5 or door 9 (it also goes to Embassy Suites). Or, you can travel by Metro (subway): after exiting the airport and entering the metro, take either the Blue Line going towards Largo Town Center or the Yellow Line going towards Fort Totten. Exit at the second stop: Pentagon City, and the hotel is 0.5 miles from the subway exit. Visit to plan your trip.
From Dulles Airport (IAD)
There is no metro line from Dulles Airport. You have several options varying in price and difficulty. The most expensive but easiest option is to take a taxi. This will likely cost around $50.
You can also take the 5A Metro Bus towards L’Enfant Plaza. This bus generally leaves every 40 minutes (schedule: costs $6 (you need exact change). After exiting the bus at the N Moore St & Rosslyn Station, walk over to the Rosslyn Metro Station. Take the blue line going towards Franconia Metro. Exit at the 3rd stop: Pentagon City, and the hotel is 0.5 miles from the subway exit. Visit to plan your trip.
From Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)
Walk to the BWI Airport Stop 2 and board the B30 bus towards Greenbelt Station. The bus leaves every 40 minutes (schedule: and costs $6 (you need exact change). At the Greenbelt Station, exit the bus and enter the Greenbelt Metro Station. Board the Green Line towards Branch Ave and ride 6 stops, exiting at the Columbia Heights Metro Station. At Columbia Heights, board the Yellow Line towards Huntington Street and ride 8 stops, exiting at Pentagon City, and the hotel is 0.5 miles from the subway exit. Visit to plan your trip.
From Union Station
After entering the metro, take the red line going towards Shady Grove. Exit at the 2nd stop: Gallery Place Chinatown, and transfer to the Yellow Line going towards Huntington Station. Exit at the 4th stop: Pentagon City, and the hotel is 0.5 miles from the subway exit.
From the Metro to the Hotel
When you exit the Pentagon City Metro, walk north to Army Navy Drive (toward 395 and the Pentagon) – make a right on Army Navy Drive and go 3 blocks. The Doubletree will be on the right side once you cross over South Eads Street. This is about a 10-12 minute walk.

- Head north on 1st St SE towards C St SE
- Turn right onto C St SE

From the hotel to the Lutheran Church of the Reformation via taxi: A taxi ride is fast (15-20 minutes) and split among four people it will cost approximately $25 total.

- Enter the Union Station Metro Stop at Massachusetts Avenue and First Street NE
- Take the Red Line towards Grosvenor/Shady Grove for 2 stops
- At Gallery Place/Chinatown, transfer the Yellow Line towards Huntington
- Ride 4 stops, exiting the metro at Pentagon City Metro Station.
- Walk north on S. Hayes St towards Army Navy Dr (.2 m)
- Turn right on Army Navy Dr (.4 m)
- The Doubletree Hotel will be on your right.
