What We Will Do:

People with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their family members (including siblings) will increase their self-determination, advocacy, and leadership skills to become agents for system change in Colorado.

How We Will Do It:

Establish and support a program for the direct funding of a state self-advocacy organization led by individuals with developmental disabilities

Support opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and family members (including siblings) who are considered leaders to provide leadership training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and family members (including siblings) who may become leaders

Support and expand participation of individuals with developmental disabilities and their family members (including siblings) in cross-disability and culturally diverse leadership development coalitions

What We Will Do:

Youth with disabilities will transition from high school better prepared for an integrated life in their communities

How We Will Do It:

Youth, their family members, and support teams will receive the knowledge and tools they need to advocate for the housing of their choice.

Employment First principles will be implemented for students transitioning to work and/or higher education.

Transition-aged youth and their families will have access to training on self-advocacy and self-determination.

Transition-aged youth and family members will be supported to continue their community participation efforts throughout transition and into their adult-lives.

What We Will Do:

Children and adults with disabilities, their families, and their support teams will have the tools and resources they need so that the use of seclusion and restraint to manage behavior will decrease significantly.

How We Will Do It:

The Council, Disability Law Colorado and JFK Partners (the three sister agencies) will work collaboratively to ensure that children in early childhood settings will not be subjected to the use of seclusion, restraint, and expulsion as a technique to manage behavior.

The Council and Disability Law Colorado will work collaboratively to ensure that children in the K-12 education system will not be subjected to the use of seclusion, restraint, and expulsion asa means to manage behavior.

The Council and Disability Law Colorado, and other applicable state agencies will work together to ensure that adults will not be subjected to use of seclusion and restraint for behavior management.
