How to set up a Podomatic Podcast Page

1. Go to http://www.podomatic.com

2. Click on ‘Sign Up’

3. Fill in the details asked for and click ‘Sign Up’

4. Choose a photo to represent your podcast by browsing your computer to locate one. You can skip this part of the sign up process and complete it later if you don’t have a photo yet.

5. Click on ‘My Podcast’ to set up your page

6. Click on ‘Edit tagline & description to give your Podcast Page a title and a brief description.

7. Click on Preferences to set up how your page will look.

8. To choose the theme for the page first click on ‘View Templates’. Once you have decided what theme you like, click the back arrow to return to the page shown above. Next click on the edit button. A drop down menu will appear with the names of the themes, choose a theme and then click ‘save’.

9. To add links to your podcast page click on the ‘edit’ button next to the ‘Favorite Links’ section on page shown above.

Click on the ‘Add Links’ button

Delete the podomatic link if you like and add in your own links.

Click on ‘Save’ when you have finished adding all of your links. It should then look like the image to the right.

10. To add external HTML (such as clustrmaps.com) click on the ‘edit’ button on the external html section.

This will open a html box where you can paste code you have copied from other sites. Click on preview to check to see if the code is copied in correctly and when you are satisfied click on ‘save’.

11. Next click on the ‘edit’ button next to the ‘categories section. This section sets up where your podcast is filed in the Podomatic podcast directory. The first category should be ‘Education’. I then choose the second category as ‘K-12’ and the third category could be what ever you specialise in, for example ‘Science’ etc. I have chosen ‘K-12’ for this third category as well.

How to post your Podcast episode

Click on ‘Post an Episode’

Click on ‘Post Episode’. Your episode will now be uploaded to the podomatic site.

You will be shown a message saying that your podcast is being converted to a different format and will be available for viewing shortly. Podomatic automatically converts your audio file into formats that can be read by any computer, so you don’t have to worry about the format you upload.

When your episode is ready you will receive an email telling you that you can view your episode on your podcast page.

Clicking on ‘My Podcast Page’ will take you to your published page.
