How to make a graph in Excel

1.  Open Excel, while your Word document is open on your desktop.

2.  Type your heading “Mass” in A1.

3.  Under the heading, type in your data.

4.  Select all your data by click-and-drag until all your information is highlighted.

5.  Click on the icon that looks like a bar graph to open chart wizard.

6.  Choose Line graph, then choose the top, left picture of a line graph.

7.  Click “next.”

8.  Type in labels for each axis and the title.

9.  Click on “next.”

10.  Click “finish.”

11.  You should now have a graph next to your data table. Your x-axis scale will not be correct. It will count by 2’s starting with 1, but we haven’t been able to change that.

12.  Your graph should already be selected with the pull boxes in each corner. Right click, copy. You should see the little marching dots around your graph. Click on your word document. Click where you want the graph to go. Right click, paste.

13.  Be sure to save your Word document now, so you don’t accidentally loose your graph. You do not need to save your Excel data or graph once you have placed it into your Word document.
