PLC Activity #8

PSpice for Lab 9

How to get credit for this activity

First, sign-in at the computer and sign-out when the activity is complete. Show your work and results to a PLC tutor so they can check your work and initial the signoff sheet. Be prepared to answer questions about the activity or your results

PROCEDURE

Part 1: Simulation of an RC circuit with a pulse width of 5

  1. Determine the time constant  of the circuit using the actual resistor and capacitor values that will be used in the experiment. Now determine the (i) PW =5 and the period (ii) PER= 10
  2. Use PSpice to constructandsimulate the RC circuit using PW and PER from (1a). Set the total runtime to be 1 period = 100us.
  1. Plot vC(t) and vR(t) and label the voltages for the charging phase for time constants (35) and for the discharging phase for time constants (6810). Setup an Excel table that summarizes these values. These PSpice values will be your guides to oscilloscope measurements in Lab 9.

Part 2: Simulation of an RC circuit with a pulse width of 2

  1. Determine the time constant  of the circuit using the actual resistor and capacitor values that will be used in the experiment. Now determine the (i) PW =2 and the period (ii) PER=4.
  2. Use PSpice to constructandsimulate the RC circuit and set the total runtime to be 6T= 240us but delay the data taking by setting the “Start saving data after” to 150us.
  3. Plot vC(t) and vR(t) and label the voltages for the charging phase for time constants (2) and for the discharging phase for time constants (34). Setup an Excel table that summarizes these values. These PSpice values will be your guides to oscilloscope measurements in Lab 9
