DESCRIPTION: Bishop Alemany High School Parent Association Mass for Healing
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. It is a season of penance, reflection, and fasting which prepares us for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday. This year Bishop Alemany Warriors came together as a school to celebrate a school wide mass themed “With Your Whole Heart” and to receive ashes to mark the beginning of Lent. The parent association and all of our Bishop Alemany Community of current families, alumnus, faculty and staff will join together to mark the first Sunday of Lent in a candle light mass for Healing at the Queen of Angeles Chapel. Father Norm Supancheck will preside over the mass and all are welcome to attend.
As Pope Francis said in his Lenten Letter, “Lent is a time of renewal for the whole Church, for each communities and every believer. Above all it is a "time of grace" (2Cor 6:2). God does not ask of us anything that he himself has not first given us. "We love because he first has loved us" (1Jn 4:19). He is not aloof from us. Each one of us has a place in his heart. He knows us by name, he cares for us and he seeks us out whenever we turn away from him. He is interested in each of us; his love does not allow him to be indifferent to what happens to us.” The Bishop Alemany Community will gather together as we start our Lenten journey and pray for healing prayers for all those who are in pain or suffering, physically, emotionally or spiritually. Bishop Alemany High School Warriors can be seen throughout Lent giving back to the community through various service projects. Christian Service Director Bob Warren and a group of Alemany Warriors can be found on Saturday mornings working hard at Habitat for Humanity or hosting Alemany Amigos, a day for low income children on our campus. Sr. Sara Goggin is leading our Warriors in preparing meals for the Sylmar Homeless Shelter and accompanying a group of students to Haiti to teach English in a small Catholic School. ASB Director Katye Fama organized a campus wide blood drive with Holy Cross Hospital. These are just a few examples of how our Alemany family is enriched as community and committed to serve with our whole heart.
The Bishop Alemany High School community is a Catholic Community of Excellence that is Enlightened in Faith, Enriched as Community, Inspired by Excellence, Empowered to Succeed and Committed to Serve.
