How to Develop Interview Questions

How to use this tool:

1)  List the selection criteria in the first column

2)  Consider the attributes/characteristics required to meet each selection criteria

3)  State the desirable evidence/behaviour you are looking for the applicant to demonstrate

4)  Develop the questions to ask

Example:

Department/Unit/Ward: XYZ Hospital Surgical Ward

Position Title: Administrative Officer Level 2

Additional probing questions:
How did you ensure the communication was targeted appropriately for your audience?
What was your approach in gaining input into developing the communication?
What are your three strongest skills or attributes in relation to written and oral communication?
Demonstrated ability to use initiative and work independently / Work without supervision, self starter, organised / ·  Can be relied upon to complete projects
·  Plans and takes action with an appropriate sense of urgency or priority
·  Handles work with minimum supervision
·  Seeks opportunities to work with others / Describe a situation that required a number of things to be done at the same time. How did you handle it? What was the result?
Ability to work in a team / Create harmonious work relationships / ·  Respects others
·  Being punctual
·  Resolves conflicts promptly
·  Involves team members as appropriate
·  Communicates and shares information in a timely manner

Ability to use computer hardware, software applications and electronic systems / Foundational computer skills and experience / ·  Have foundational skills in Microsoft Office programs

·  Motivates to learn new systems / Describe to the panel your experience using computers?
