How to create an OnLine Assessment (OLA) in Apex

Create an OnLine Assessment in Tracorp LMS – Quicksheet
1. / On the Administrator home page, click Add New Content.
2. / Complete all pertinent fields in the New Content Wizard. Note: To cancel, just close (“x out of”) the wizard.
Step 1 / a. / Content Type = Online Test/Questionnaire
b. / Category = Choose one (1) Category, to keep the learner’s view simple.
Step 2 / a. / Content Code – Create a code using the Course Code Guidelines.
b. / Search Keywords – any word not already in the title, that will help students find it in the catalog.
c. / Description – The lesson objectives, summary, purpose anddetails about what is covered.
d. / Est. Duration – Number of minutes it will take to complete the assessment.
e. / List In Content Catalog – No. It doesn’t need to be searchable: it will be listed with the lesson.
f. / Allow students to self-assign – No. Students could un-enroll themselves.
g. / Show on Student Transcript – Yes.
h. / Allow UG-Admin to assign this content – No. It doesn’t need to be assigned separately.
Step 3 / Prerequisites. Filter the list using the Search criteria at the top. Drag any prereq’s into the right column.
Step 4 / a. / Passing Score – The minimum score required to pass.
b. / Auto-archive on Completion – Moves the content to the Archive tab automatically.
c. / When a User Completes this Content… – Choose the lesson that this test is for. When they pass the test, the lesson will be marked “Complete”, too.
Step 5 / a. / Click Add Question. Type the question text and click OK.
b. / Click the question to highlight it, then click Add Answer. Type the answer text and click OK.
c. / Click the correct answer to highlight it, then click Mark Correct. A green checkmark will appear next to it.
When you have entered all of the questions, click Next.
Step 6 / Associated Resources. Find the lesson that this test is for, and single-click to highlight it.
Confirmation. If you want, add a certificate and/or an image thumbnail, verify the info and click Finish.
3. / Go back to the lesson and associate this assessment with the lesson content.
a. / Click Content, find the lesson and open it to edit.
b. / Click the Associated Resources tab.
c. / Click once on the Online Assessment, then click Save.

Step 1 / Welcome. Click Next.
Step 2 / Content Type/Category. /
a. / Content Type = Online Test/Questionnaire
b. / Category = Choose one (1) Category. Selecting multiple categories will create multiple tabs on users’ home pages.
Step 3 / Course Info. /
a. / Content Code – Create a code using the Course Code Guidelines.
b. / Search Keywords – any word related to the lesson, that is not already in the title, that will help students find the assessment in the catalog.
Description – The lesson objectives, summary and purpose. Details about what is covered, so students know what it is when they find it in the catalog.
Est. Duration – Number of minutes it will take to complete the assessment.
c. / List In Content Catalog – No. It doesn’t need to be searchable: it will be visible to students who are assigned the lesson.
d. / Allow students to self-assign – No. Students could un-enroll themselves.
e. / Show on Student Transcript – Yes.

Step 4 / Prerequisites.
If there are any pre-requisites, drag them from the right column to the left column.
You can filter the list in the right column by using the “Search” criteria at the top of the window. /

4. / Go back to the lesson and associate this assessment with the lesson content.
a. / Click Content, find the lesson and open it to edit. /
b. / Click the Associated Resources tab.
c. / Click once on the Online Assessment.
d. / Click Save.
