Selection Event Information for BSc (Hons) Nursing with Registered Nurse (Adult/Mental Health) Applicants
Following your UCAS application the University Student Administration Team will review your information and forward eligible applications to the School of Health & Social Care for shortlisting.
If your application is successful you will be invited to attend a half day selection event via your UCAS Track. All communications will be made via your UCAS Track so please check this regularly.
Please confirm your attendance or request an alternative date via your UCAS track as soon as possible. Please note, should you decline your selection event or if you do not attend, the University shall assume that you are no-longer interested in a place on the programme and have withdrawn your application.
How should I prepare for the selection event?
The BSc (Hons) Nursing programme has been designed specifically for those who wish to become a qualified nurse (Adult or Mental Health) and as such reflects current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements for nurse education. On successful completion of the programme you will achieve a BSc (Hons) Degree in Nursing with the ability to register on the chosen pathway of the professional nurse register with the NMC.

An Assessment of Suitability Declaration form will be required to be completed. This can be found at It is mandatory that you complete and return this by email in advance of your interview. You will be unable to proceed to selection if an electronic copy has not been made available to the Admissions Tutor prior to the date of your selection event. What will my interview include?
- A short introduction to the structure of the selection event.
- A 10 minute situational judgement test. You will be presented with 5 hypothetical scenarios and asked to rank the correct answers from 1 (most appropriate) to 4 (least appropriate).
- A one to one structured interview lasting approximately 20 minutes. It is typically observed by a panel consisting of one member of the academic team and one other person who may be a clinician, patient representative or a current senior nursing student.
Selection events will take approximately 3.5 hours on a weekday.
All information from your application form, situational judgement task and interview, will then be reviewed against the BSc (Hons) Nursing programme selection criteria.

What will I need to bring?
Some form of original photograph identification, i.e. Passport or Photograph Driving Licence.
Where is my selection event going to be held?
At the Brayford Campus. Please report to the Reception area of the Sarah Swift Building, Brayford Wharf East, Lincoln, LN5 7AY, where a member of staff will greet you. Please check your UCAS Track for the time schedule.

How do I get to the University?
Are parents welcome?
Yes. Whilst selection events are taking place, parents are welcome to visit the campus, view the sights of Lincoln or wait in one of the campus eateries.
Is there any parking available?
The University does not have onsite parking available; however, across from the campus there is a retail park with pay and display parking, or NCP car parks within a five-minute walk.
When do I find out if I have been offered a place?
Places are offered via UCAS track and will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check and Occupational Health clearance.
If you do not receive an offer of a place on the programme verbal feedback will be available from the team should you require it.
I can no longer attend the selection event that I have accepted, what do I do?
