How much are my fees for this academic year?

If you are classed as an RUK (Rest of UK which includes England, Northern Ireland and Wales) student you will retain the same fee for each academic year of continuous study

My card has expired/new card can I change the details?

How can I inform finance that my fees are covered by SAAS/Student Finance

SAAS/Student Finance information can be scanned and emailed to or by taking a copy of your letter to the student hub where they will arrange to send this information to the finance department

How can I get a refund for overpaid fees

If you are entitled to a refund please email and we will arrange to refund any overpayment to your bank account or credit card (if original method payment)

How can I change my payment plan or date of payment.

I have missed a payment and my account has been blocked – Where can I make a payment

I have not received my student loan – How can I get my attendance confirmed

As an overseas student I have paid my £3500 deposit but am no longer coming to the university. Can I get a refund

The £3500 deposit is non-refundable unless your student visa is refused. We will arrange a refund if visa refusal paperwork is received and the refund will be returned to the source bank account in your country of origin.

I am attending graduation but it states I still have an outstanding balance. Where can I check this.

How can I arrange for my fees to be paid by my employer

Where can I get my part time fee grant/ CDL form stamped and verified

The finance office at Sighthill can arrange to stamp and verify your part time fee grant form and your Career Development loan applications. The finance office(Room number 1C31) is open from 10 o’clock until 12 o’clock and then from 2 o’clock until 4 o’clock.

How do I set up a payment plan for accommodation/Tuition fees

If you would like to pay your accommodation or tuition fees in instalments please do this online with a debit or credit card

We only accept Visa, Visa debit, visa electron & Mastercard for payment of tuition fees.

(We do not accept Maestro, Travel cards or American Express cards)

How do I apply for alumni discount

If you have graduated from the university previously with an undergraduate degree please email the fees team at to advise and we will arrange to apply the 10% discount to your account

I am experiencing financial difficulties paying my fees – where can I get help

If you are struggling with your fee payments please contact the Independent Student Advice service who will help offer advice and guidance and can help to negotiate an alternative payment plan with credit control if applicable. What are my options for payment of fees

Fees are due and payable at the start of your course and can be made in full prior to your course start date.

Alternatively if you would like to pay in instalments a payment plan must be set up prior to or during online enrolment.

I am repeating modules – will my fees be paid by SAAS/Student Finance

In certain circumstances repeat year fees may be covered by SAAS or Student Finance however you would need to contact them directly to determine if you are eligible for repeat year funding.

If you are not eligible for funding you will need to contact the fees team to arrange payment of fees.

Am I eligible for discount if I pay in full

A discount of £170 for 2014/15 for full payment made 30 days prior to the course start date will be allowed for self- funded students with annual tuition fees in excess of £6500 (with the exception of collaborative students)

Can I pay in 6 instalments if I have a SAAS loan

If you are studying more than 60 credits over the academic year then you can pay your portion of the fees in instalments.

Can I use both the early payment discount and the alumni discount

If your fees are in excess of £6500 and you have previously graduated from the university with an undergraduate degree then both discounts would be applicable.

Why can’t I access my student account

If you have a tuition fee debt to the university or have not kept to an agreed payment plan then your university access will be blocked.

Once payment has been received for either full payment or a missed instalment your access will be reinstated within 24 hours (unless payment made over a weekend or holiday period)

What is a bench fee.

An annual bench fee is charged to all students studying Product Design, Music, Popular Music, Graphic Design, Interior and Spatial Design and Design and Digital Arts as a contribution towards basic workshop materials for projects and exhibitions, and a personal 3D CAD software licence (for PCs).

The bench fee is due and payable at the start of each academic year

Why are SAAS not paying my fees

If you have received previous SAAS funding you may not be eligible for further funding. EU students will not be eligible for SAAS funding if they are not intending to graduate from Edinburgh Napier University.

Can I pay in cash:

You can pay the full balance of your tuition fees or fines and charges in cash, however there is not an option to pay in instalments with cash.

The cash office is located at the Sighthill campus and is open 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm Monday to Friday.

How do I withdraw or suspend from my course

If you choose to withdraw or suspend from your course you must inform your programme leader in writing.
