HOW ARE YOU GRADED IN PHYSCIAL EDUCATION?

Students receive 5 points a day.

If a student is not dressed they will lose 1 point.

If a student is tardy they will lose 1 point.

If a student does not participate in daily exercises, stretching and activities they will lose up to 4 points.

Work Habits/Cooperation

E’s are earned by students who are Exceptionally well behaved and put forth maximum Effort.

S’s are earned by students who do the status quo.

U’s are earned by students who receive more than 3 tardies and non-suits a grading period as well as any behavior issues that may occur.

A student’s grade each grading period will depend upon how successful he/she is in these areas:

1. Being prepared to work and participating:

a. Dress for class daily

b. Participate to the best of the student’s ability

c. Active listening and following rules and directions

2. Responsibility

a. Being on time to class

b. Dressed in your own P.E. uniform

c. Locker room conduct and responsibility

3.Respect and Social Behavior

a. Respect for peers, teachers, staff, equipment,

and school

b. No put-downs

c. Cooperative effort

d. Appropriate behavior

4.Homework and Tests

a. Appropriate written assignments

b. Organized P.E. notebook with all

assignments in place

c. All Assignments and papers that are handed out will be

posted on my webpage.

HOW IS YOUR GRADE LOWERED IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION?

Any of the following can result in a lowered grade:

1. Not dressing or dressing incompletely in class

2. Not turning in written assignments

3. Not participating in any of the class activities

4. Tardy to class (not sitting in roll call order)

5. The use of inappropriate language

6. Displaying a poor attitude

7. Any behavior that distracts from the

educational environment.

When Do I Need To Do Make-Up Work?

Physical Education is a participation based class. If you are here and participate you will receive a good grade. If you have been absent or are out on a medical excuse you are not able to participate.

It is the student responsibility to ask for make-up work!!

100% - 90% = A

89% - 80% = B

79% - 70% = C

69% - 60% = D

59% and lower = F

WHAT IS THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORM?

Webster students dress in physical education uniform every day for Physical Education class. Wearing your physical education uniform allows you to move freely and safely. Cleanliness is important!! Clothes MUST be washed weekly!! Physical Education uniforms can be purchased at the student store and consists of:

Grey Webster t-shirt No jewelry, hats or electronic devices

Green Webster shorts

Socks

Athletic shoes

Sweats purchased from the student store can be worn on cold days. The P.E. shirt and shorts must always be worn underneath the graysweatshirt and green sweats.

All physical education t-shirts MUST be clearly marked with first name and last name initial printed in permanent black ink on the front and back.

If a physical education uniform cannot be purchased you may bring a gray t-shirt with no markings (except your name) and a pair of green shorts from home.

WHAT IF I FORGET MY UNIFORM?

It is your responsibility to come to class each day prepared to dress and participate. However, Webster does have a loaner clothes program. The clothes are washed after each use. You will never be given dirty clothes. You will be allowed 3 sets of loaner clothes per quarter. Your grade will be lowered if you are in loaner clothes. You are still expected to participate regardless of your dressing status. If you choose not to dress or have used too many non-suits, phone calls home will be made and consequences will follow.

HOW DO I KEEP MY “STUFF” SAFE?

1. Be responsible for your own belongings.

2. Lock ALL of your important “stuff” in your

Locker. PE. Dept is not responsible for your “stuff”

3. Always protect your combination from others,

including friends.

4. If you have trouble with your lock or locker find

a teacher and we will assist you.

LOCKER ROOM RULES

1. No running

2. No screaming

3. No horse play of any kind

4. Do not go into the locker room without

permission or supervision

5. No food or drink in locker room

6. Keep out of office area in the locker room

7. NO AERSOL SPRAY CANS OF ANY KIND!!!

WHAT IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL?

Your physical education teacher wants to be fair but we know laziness can be a habit. A parent note is valid for two days only. Extended excuses will require a doctor’s note and must be cleared through the health office. It is up to the teacher to decide make-up work for doctor’s excuses.

Discipline and Behavior Policies

Webster Physical Education Department follows and abides by all Webster Campus’ rules regarding tardy and behavior policies. Physical Education and Locker Room Rules are posted in the locker room areas. Rules are stated at the beginning of each activity.

BASIC RULE:

RESPECT YOUR TEACHER, YOUR PEERS, YOUR SCHOOL, THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION EQUIPMENT AND MOST IMPORTANTLY YOURSELF!!!
