HOW 2 Enlarge a V6 Throttle Body

This is a true account of how I modified my 1999 2.5 X25XE V6 Throttle body .
I am not responsible for any damage or breakage you do , if you decide to carry out this mod also.
I found this MOD made the engine responded instantly to the throttle , and much more responsive throughout the whole rev range and removed my slight flat spot
First of all I didnt have the centre plenom chamber off before starting and this proved to be the hardest part.
Undid the front plenom (3 start bolts (managed with a 6mm socket!)) and pulled the front plenom away from the centre.
Undid the star bolts for the centre plenom (using an 8mm socket!).
Then the EGR pipe (what a pain in the asse). 2 torx bolts but I managed with a 6.5mm allen key! Try and be nice with the gasket so you dont have to replace!

This how 2 will assume the centre plenom has been removed c/w throttle attached
Tools needed
10mm socket
Phillips screw driver
Basstard File
smooth File
400 wet n dry
800 wet n dry
1200 wet n dry
Step 1
Remove throttle body from Plenom using the 10mm socket there are 3 off 2 on top 1 underneath the throttle body .Remove Throttle sensor 2 off pillips screws ,

Now its off lets look at the beast .
As you can see the standard V6 Throttle body has a LARGE ridge on the bottom , this is what we are going to remove to make it a perfect round smooth passage for the air to pass through
The ridge is actually bigger than it looks in the picture here

To get the 3 screws out of the TB you have to pull one of the colants pipes off to get to the 3rd screw. For me this was werre the pain started. THe nut cam off but did not pull the thred throught. When you look at it and it will make more sence. so i have to take the top off.

Step 2
Clamp the throttle body in the vice and cable tie the butterfly valve open , you can remove if you wish , i didnt .
Now get your basstard file out ( rough file ) begin to file the bottom rigde , applying hard slow strokes .

Step 3
Now once you happy the ridge is gone by running your finger through , it should look like this ,

Now using a smoother file run it over to to remove the harsher file marks , then get your 400 wet n dry and sand it all up , then the 800 grade , finally the 1200 grade ,
Should begin to look like this

Step 4
Now use some sort of cleaner , i used carb cleaner , this is a must as you need remove all traces of fillings from the throttle body , take your time here , as this is obviously important
It should look like this when all finished ,

As you can see the ridge has gone and there is no restrictions what so ever , nice smooth passage for the air to flow through into the engine
