JOB TITLE: HR Advisor

HOURS: 40 hours per week

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

REPORTING TO: Senior HRBusiness Partner

Salary: TT scale 26 to 31(£21,427 to £25,337)

Job Purpose

To advise on disciplinary, grievance and employee relation cases. Provide pragmatic and solution focused HR advice and supportensuring best practice is shared across services and developed. To assist the Senior HR business partnerin specific HR Improvement projects and initiatives.

Principal Accountabilities

Human Resources Advice and Support

  • Alongside the Senior HR Business Partner (Senior HRBP) provide HR advice and support to Trust managers and staff on a wide range of operational Human Resources issues.
  • To assist, Trust managers and staff in the interpretation and implementation of Trust policies and procedures e.g. Grievance, Disciplinary and Sickness Absence Management. Report any issues of concern to the Senior HRBP.
  • To support, Trust managers and staff on the application of terms and conditions of service.
  • To advise, Trust managers and staff on issues of employment legislation.
  • Provide advice during medium risk disciplinary and grievance cases, this will include being part of the hearing panels.

Human Resources Policy

  • To contribute to any review of the Trust’s employment policies and procedures, ensuring that they reflect current legislation ensuring managers are advised and supported of any significant changes / updates.
  • To significantly contribute to specific HR projects as delegated by the Senior HRBP.
  • To contribute to the Trust’s workforce plan

Employee Relations

  • To work with staff Council representatives on specific issues as required.
  • To encourage the engagement and involvement of staff and staff representatives in the reviewing, revision and development of employment policies and procedures.
  • Work in partnership with staff representatives where required on project related activities

Learning and Development

  • To work with Trust managers to develop and enhance their human resources knowledge and skills.
  • To provide support and advice to members of the Human Resources team.
  • To work with the HRM, Senior HRBP and Organisational Development HR business partner (OD HRPB) where appropriate to ensure communication, engagement and training and development plans are in place for HR Project related activities.
  • To develop and deliver presentation and training sessions for Trust staff and managers to support recruitment & selection procedures.

Resourcing

  • Assist in the recruitment process, advising and assisting managers with their individual requests; to contribute to and participate in the recruitment evenings that are held within the Trust
  • Assist the HRM and Senior HRBP in the development of the recruitment process and recommend appropriate changes/improvements

HR Database

  • Assist with the maintenance of the HR database ensuring that information relating to the Trust’s employees is accurate and up-to date.
  • To maintain HR trackers providing reports to the Senior HRPB on leavers, long term absences and investigations.
  • Manage the interface with Teachers pensions

HR Team

  • To contribute to the Human Resources team, ensuring a high standard of advice and support within responsive timescales.
  • To generate ideas and fully contribute to and implement the findings of any audit of Human Resource service undertaken.
  • To undertake adhoc HR related work as delegated by the Senior HRPB.

Education / Qualifications / Degree qualified (GCSE Maths and English grade C or above)
CIPD Graduate / Full Graduate Membership CIPD / Job application
Experience / Comprehensive experience within an HR environment
Experience of disciplinary and grievance procedures / Experience within Education, Social Care or charity sector / Job application / Interview
Skills / Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good level of computer literacy including all Microsoft Office Applications Advanced Excel
Able to work to deadlines and prioritise own workload
Able to develop innovative solutions to a broad range of HR issues
Ability to manage defined projects to achieve results
Ability to present complex information both verbally and in written form / Experience of using Bond or another similar HR system
Project management experience
Experience of process improvement / Job application / interview/ presentation
Knowledge / Knowledge of HR procedures, good practice and legislation e.g. sickness absence, grievance, disciplinary, recruitment etc
Understanding the application of employment Law / Experience in employee reward (job evaluation, terms and conditions)
Experience working with competency frameworks / Job application / interview
Aptitudes / Methodical approach to work
Organisational Skills
Ability to communicate with staff and managers at all levels of the organisation
