DIVISIONS
EQUITATION divisions are judged on the RIDER’S form, tact, accuracy, and ability to control the horse.
HUNTER divisions are judged on the HORSE’S quality of movement and jumping, manners, and obedience.
WALK-TROT EQUITATION Open to riders of any age, limited to this division. Two classes over groundrails individually, one group flat equitation class. Riders may not enter any other division.
WALK-TROT HUNTER Open to horses ridden by a Walk-Trot Equitation Rider only. Horses judged on manners, obedience, accuracy and gaits suitable for carrying a walk-trot rider.
HUNTER UNDER SADDLE Open to all horses and ponies. Hunter Under Saddle class judged at the walk, trot and canter. Bridle Path Hack class judged at the walk, trot, extended trot, canter and hand gallop. Hunter Hack class judged at the walk, trot, extended trot, canter, hand gallop, and over two trotting height fences. All classes in this division are run as group classes. Judged on way of going and manners. Hunter Hack class judged 50% on flat work, 50% on jumping form, willingness and safety.
SHORT/LONG STIRRUPS EQUITATION Open to all age riders. Two classes over crossrails courses, judged individually, one group flat equitation class. Riders may also enter Hunter Under Saddle and Low & Slow Hunter divisions.
LOW & SLOW HUNTER Open to horses ridden in Hunter Under Saddle, and any equitation division with fences 2’ and under in height. Two classes over courses from 1’ up to 1’6” judged individually and one under saddle class judged as a group.
CHILDREN’S/ADULT HUNTER Open to horses and ponies ridden by any age rider, may also be ridden in any equitation division with fences 2’3” and under. Also open to horses eligible for Baby Green Hunter Division.
BEGINNER EQUITATION Open to all riders in their first year of showing over 2’3” courses. Two classes over 2’3” courses, judged individually and one flat equitation class judged as a group.
BABY GREEN HUNTER Open to horses and ponies in their first year of showing over 2’3” courses. Two classes over fences, judged individually, and one under saddle class judged as a group.
JUNIOR/ADULT HUNTER Open to all horses and ponies except those from the LOW & SLOW HUNTER or the CHILDREN’S/ADULT HUNTER divisions. Two classes over 2’6” fences judged individually, one under saddle class judged as a group.
OPEN EQUITATION Open to any age rider not competing in a lower equitation division. Two courses over 2’6” fences, one flat class.
HOPEFUL HUNTER Open to any horse or pony in its first or second year of showing over 2’6” fences, including Baby Green Hunters or any horse not ready to jump higher.
JUMPER Jumpers are judged solely on their ability to jump clean, on course, and within the allowed time.
Starting with the SHORT/LONG STIRRUPS division through the rest of the divisions, in order to enter a flat class, the horse (for hunter divisions) or rider (for equitation divisions) MUST enter the over fences classes as well. Competitors wishing to ride in flat classes only are directed to the HUNTER UNDER SADDLE division and the WALK-TROT EQUITATION division.
