Hotel Tapa Tour comes to Barcelona’s finest hotels with a unique wine tourism initiative

This initiative launched last year to great success and will be returning to Barcelona from 4th to 14th May.

Tapas will be the culinary ambassador for the cuisine served at iconic hotels including El Palace, Monument Hotel and The Serras.

Members of the public will be able to sample two different creations at each hotel: a competition tapa and a solidarity tapa, both paired with wines and cavas by such renowned labels as Codorniuand Raimat.

Hotel Tapa Touris back for the second year running at some of Barcelona’s finest hotels to revolutionise the gastronomic and culinary diaries of the local community.The gastronomic tour will visit prestigious hotels includingEl Palace, Monument Hotel, The Serrasand Cotton House. More than 30 hotels in the Catalan capital will be taking part.

The firstsignature tapas routein 4- and 5-star city hotels is an independent initiative designed to promote hotel cuisine. This unique wine and food experience seeks to break down the architectural and cultural barriers that separate hotels from the community and to bring hotel cuisine to a wider audience, staking a claim to the hotel’s role as a gastronomic meeting point.

Hotel Tapa Tour will be coming to Barcelona from4thto 14thMay. Over a ten-day period,two different tapas, paired withwines and cavas, will be on offerat each of the participating hotels: a competition tapathat diners will scorevia an app, and asolidarity tapa, not entered for the competition, whose profits raised will be donated to a social or environmental cause of the hotel’s choice.

There are three categories of tapa for the competition: Tapas of the Land, made with meat, poultry or vegetables; Tapas of the Sea, made with fish and seafood; andHeavenly Tapas, sweet tapas.The tapas with the most votes will receive a prize from the organisers at the closing ceremony. All the voters registered via the competition app will be entered for a prize draw for a ticket for two people to any destination where Norwegian Airlinesoperates in the USA (Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York or Miami).

The tapas will be created byMichelin-starred chefs, including Martín Berasategui (Monument Hotel, Hotel España and Condes de Barcelona)andMarc Gascons(The Serras Hotel), as well as new, up-and-coming talents of haute cuisine. This, together with the competitive price of the tapas –an average of6€ to 9€including a drink –make the Hotel Tapa Tour the perfect excuse to cross the threshold of some of the city’s luxury hotels and be captivated by their gastronomy.

These miniature mouthfuls of haute cuisine will also be accompanied by an excellent selection of wines and cavas, including two wineries from the main wine-producing regions of Catalonia,Codorníu and Raimat, which are part of the Cava and Costers del Segre Designations of Origin respectively.

Participants can choose to go on the gastronomic tour at their own pace or follow one of the routes on the Hotel Tapa Tourprinted map, which also specifies the tapas, wine pairings, prices and times at each hotel. The map will be available at all the participating hotels as well as the Turisme de Barcelonainformation offices in Plaça Catalunya and the Columbus Monument.

Some of the hotels taking part will also offer recreational and wine- and food-relatedactivities, including tastings, food and wine pairings, DJ sessions and live music. You can view the programme on theHotel Tapa Tour website.

Hotel Tapa Tour also invites the chefs at its hotels to take part in the Marine Plankton Challenge, putting their creativity and skill in the kitchen to the test, using this unique and innovative food to create a tapa that will be judged by a panel of experts. The winning hotel will keep the winning tapa on its menu for a month so the public can discover the true flavour of the sea.
