held on Wednesday 30th September 2015 at 7.30pm in The Horam Centre

IN ATTENDANCE: CLLR MICHAEL BUSTARD, ANGELA DEAN, SUE FLETCHER, CLLR GRAHAM KNIGHT, ART & TRISH MARSH, CLLR PAUL NOAKES, CLLR VIRGINIA ROBERTS, CLLR SUSAN STEDMAN.

AGENDA

1.  APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: Kirsten Fernforth, Andrew Lock, John Stanbridge

2.  DECLARATION OF INTEREST – none

3.  MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON JULY 27th 2015 (previously circulated) were confirmed and signed as a true record.

4.  CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED: none received

5.  TREE AND SHRUB PROJECT: meeting being arranged with ESCC to provisionally agree planting, visual plan then to be displayed for comment from residents.

6.  MEMORIAL GARDEN PROJECT: Original application to WDC for land has had to be resubmitted, should hear at beginning of October. Quotes to be obtained for stone from Colas, Portland and one other.

7.  FINANCE UPDATE:

·  £ 804.71 in hand as at 31st August 2015.

·  Consider purchase of gazebo and folding table: after discussion agreed to purchase both items, neither to be too big and unwieldy, but equally, as sturdy as possible. Cllr Knight to look into suitable items. Can be stored in Horam Centre. Total cost to be around £200.

·  Agreed to apply for grant of £500 from Horam Parish Council in respect of 2016/17 financial year.

8.  FUTURE EVENTS FOR CONSIDERATION / ACTION:

·  WDC Halloween window dressing competition: initiative by Streets Ahead, support if possible.

·  “I want to Help Horam” – clean up parish day: defer until the spring

·  Christmas Night – December 3rd: Art & Trish to distribute questionnaire to traders. Band booked, School contacted re choir. Church re choir and Diamond Dance to be contacted (Clerk). Contact Eastbourne theatre re promoting both Horam at Eastbourne pantomime. (Clerk). Pre-school to be asked to display Christmas crafts in Horam Centre (Angela Dean to organise). Treasure Hunt through shops (Art & TriSh Marsh), Communications (newspapers- Cllr Stedman) (web-site, Village Diary – Clerk). Use old Horam Inn forecourt for musical events. Order of events: band, school choir, church choir. Cllr Bustard to ask of possibility of using Chapel Car park as opposed to High Street during evening. Clerk to contact PCSO/WDC for possible assistance with crossing the road/ bollards.

·  Children’s Christmas Party – December 12th - Cllr Bustard to talk to Stuart re arranging a meeting.

·  Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile – Sunday March 20th 2016: agreed to support – Clerk to be co-ordinator with Cllr Stedman. To consider just holding “mile” run and engaging school and pre-school children.

·  Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations – Sunday June 12th 2016: Lord Lieutenant of Sussex or deputy will open event at 2pm. Royal theme with scarecrow display throughout preceding week (also Royal theme).

·  BHF Cycle Ride – Croydon to Eastbourne – Saturday September 10th 2016: agreed to support water station, Clerk to liaise with BHF.

There being no further business Cllr Bustard thanked the members for attending and closed the meeting at 8.35pm
