Yoga For Your Back

Svaroopa yoga excels in releasing tension hidden deep in your spine which you may experience as chronic neck pain, limited range of movement, shoulder issues, low back pain or discomfort, numbness or tingling in extremities, general muscle tightness, poor posture, chronic headaches, TMJ or aches in legs or joints.Yoga for Your Back is gentle with a soothing benefitto all parts of your body and a relaxing effect on the mind to help you develop your mind-body connection to alleviate your pain or discomfort. Join registered yoga instructor, Adeline Alex owner of Yoga of the Heart, at her Holliston studio. This is a 4 session course.

T’ai Chi for Beginners

Regardless of your age or fitness level, these gracefully slow simple exercises can improve your physical and mental well-being with movements that slowly stretch and tone your body from head to toe. Join instructor Marcia Soldan, Villari’s Martial Arts T’ai Chi instructor and learn Level 1 of the modified Yang style T’ai Chi form. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water. This is an 8 week class. Select the morning or evening schedule.

Strength & Flexibility Yoga

Join instructors Ellen Dougherty and Kristine Maselli of Hopkinton-based Absolute Yoga,for an advanced beginner/intermediate-level yoga class designed to build a balanced, deeper and mindful yoga practice. This class will include longer-held floor and balancing postures benefiting the health and flexibility of the joints,with an emphasis on postures that build core strength and endurance. Room is mildly heated. Bring a yoga mat & towel for this 7-week course.

Join instructor Kristine Maselli owner of Hopkinton-based Absolute Yoga for a dynamic blend of Slow Flow Yoga and Pilates into a single core-building class. Pilates offers a functional approach to strength and flexibility training with exercises created to strengthen abdominal and back muscles while developing pelvic stability and abdominal control. Yoga encourages mindful breathing, concentration, and centering while fostering strength and flexibility through yoga postures. The combination of Pilates and Yoga facilitates these body/mind principles in a relaxing atmosphere. All levels. Room is mildly heated. Bring a yoga mat & towel for this 8-week course.

HeartSaver Pediatric First Aid & CPR

Juanita Allen, Wilderness EMT and Director of Community Health Education, Century Health Systems, teaches how to manage illness and injuries in a child in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Topics covered will include First Aid Basics, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, Environmental Emergencies, and CPR. This course is intended for who have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. Great for parents, Scout Leaders, Coaches Teachers and Child Care Providers. This class is for ages 16 to Adult.Choose one Class Date.

The Creative Side

Painting Class

Come unleash your creativity and join award-winning artist, Bill Robinsonas he guides you through the basics of Painting. Students will be instructed in their chosen medium painting with oils, acrylics, watercolors, or pastels to the completion of one or more pieces by the end of the course. Have fun while developing new skills. All experience levels are welcome. This is an 8 week course.

Introduction to Ceramics

JoinAnn Rainey, Hopkinton HS Art teacher,and learn basic techniques including forming with pinching, coiling, slab construction and preliminary wheel throwing. Students will also explore surface decoration, under glazes, slips and much more to make vases, mugs and bowls. All experience levels are welcome. Students with prior clay experience can further their knowledge in this course. All work will be low or mid-fired in an electric kiln. This is a 5 week course.

Babysitting Certification

BLAST - Babysitter Lessons and Safety Training

Join Juanita Allen, EMT & Director of Community Health & Wellness at Century Health Systems(Natick) for a 4 hour National Safety Council class.Students will learn how to start their babysitting career, the basics of baby care, first aid and accident prevention. Students who attend this class will earn a 2 year CPR certification. This 1-day class is open to Middle School boys and girls ages 12 – 14. Register for either date.

CLUB INVENTION™

Club Invention™ is a nationally acclaimed program filled with activities that foster creativity, teamwork and inventive thinking for children entering grades

1 – 6. This unique, highly inventive experience was created in partnership with the United States Patent Office and the National Invention Hall of Fame Foundation and is facilitated by education professionals selected for their creative abilities. In summer 2005, 45 Hopkinton children experienced Club Invention. Feedback from kids and parents exceeded all expectations. Truly an awesome experience!
