HOOVER SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION SPRING 2016
Welcome to Hoover Softball Association for the spring season 2016. At Hoover Softball Association we try to emphasize having fun while learning softball skills in a team setting. Following you will find important dates and information for softball.
· Registration begins in early December and ends on February 3rd
· In person registration will be Saturday January 16th and 23rd at the house at the entrance to the park, Hoover Central
· Evaluations will be Friday, Saturday or Sunday Feb. 5th-7th – you will be notified by email as to the time and day*
· We will offer 4u, 6u, 8u, 10u and 12u (Middle School) Leagues
· Week of February 8th teams will be formed*
· Week of February 14th practices will begin*
· Games will begin Tuesday March 22nd
· No games will be played March 26th – April 3rd due to Spring Break
· Season ending tournament (last games) will be May 14th*
*weather permitting, does not pertain to 4u league, see 4u section for 4u information below
Practices prior to the games beginning: 6u-12u: Each team will practice twice per week prior to games beginning. One practice will be on a week night at either 5:30pm or 7:00pm. One practice will be on the weekend, Saturday or Sunday. Sunday practices will not start until 1:00pm at the earliest. Note that on several weekends prior to games starting there are tournaments at the park. On these weeks teams may only practice one time during the week.
Practices once games begin the week of March 22nd: 6u-12u: Once games begin each team can practice once per week on either Sunday afternoon or Monday, Wednesday or Friday night at 5:30pm or 7:00pm. Sunday afternoon practices will not start until 1:00pm at the earliest.
Games: 6u-12u:Games begin March 22nd (No games March 26th to April 3rd due to Spring Break). Assuming we have an even number of teams each team will play two games per week. One game will be on Saturday morning or afternoon and the other game will be on Tuesday or Thursday night at either 5:30pm or 7:00pm. In case of rainouts games may be made up on other days to be determined. There will be a season ending tournament on May 14th weather permitting in which teams could play more than one game in a day. Teams will play two games and not have a practice the week of May 9th to determine seeding for the season ending tournament.
4u League: The 4u league will hit off a tee, no coach pitch. There will be six practice/game days beginning April 9th. Each practice/game session will consist of a short practice followed by a short game. This league is a great way to introduce three and four year olds to softball in a relaxed, noncompetitive, fun environment.
Allstars: HSA does have an All Star team in each league (except 4u) which will begin practicing the week of May 15th. More information about All Stars will be emailed and communicated closer to the end of the regular season. Players that participate in any travel tournament after January 1st, 2016 will not be eligible for All Stars.
