Hooray! Hooray! It's New Year's Day!
By Kenn Nesbitt
Hooray! Hooray! It's New Year's Day!
The day we start anew.
So this year I've decided
to become a kangaroo.
Or maybe I will learn to fly,
or how to walk through walls,
or how to turn invisible,
or surf on waterfalls.
I'll make myself elastic
and I'll teach myself to shrink.
I'll turn into a liquid
and I'll pour me down the sink.
I'll visit other planets
and meet aliens galore.
I'll travel to the distant past
and ride a dinosaur.
I've got so many wondrous plans.
I'm starting right away.
Yes, this will be the best year yet.
Hooray! It's New Year's Day!
Dear Santa By Kenn Nesbitt
Dear Santa, did you get my tweet
of presents I would think are sweet?
And what about my Facebook post
of toys and stuff I want the most?
Dear Santa, did you read my blog?
That's where I keep a running log
of all the times that I've been good
and doing things I know I should.
I hope you saw my Instagram,
my email wasn't flagged as spam,
you've seen my YouTube channel too
and all my texts have made it through.
Wait, does the North Pole even get
computers and the Internet?
I hope it does. I mean, it better,
or I might have to write a letter.
The Snowman
Roll a snowball large,
then one of middle size.
Roll a snowball small,
Use lumps of coal for eyes
Place a carrot for a nose,
And old hat on his head.
And for his necktie, tie around
His neck a ribbon red.
A corncob pipe goes in his mouth,
Some buttons on his vest.
And there he stands so round and fat,
Of snowmen, he’s the best!
Falling Snow
See the pretty snowflakes
Falling from the skies
On the walls and housetops
Soft and thick they lie
On the window ledges
On the branches bare
Now how fast they gather
Filling all the air
Look into the garden
Where the grass was green
Covered by the snow flakes
Not a blade is seen
Now the bare bushes
All look soft and white
Every twig is laden
What a pretty sight
