Hook Honor Roll 1st grading period

October 26, 2012

Sending out a reminder about Troy City School's medication policy. This policy is located in the student handbook/planner on page 10. Any over-the-counter medicine (including cough drops, Tylenol, Miralax…) will need a physician medication order on file in the clinic. Please send the OTC medicine in its original container. It will be locked in the clinic’s med. cabinet and only your child will use his/her medicine. We will send home the medicine at the end of the school year.

Another option would be to inform your son or daughter that salt water gargle is available in the clinic, which is a great alternative to cough drops. Vaseline is available for dry lips.

Please call the clinic if you have any questions. Hope your family avoids the flu this season!

As your child begins to feel better you may decide to stop giving fever-reducing medicines. Continue to monitor their temperature and when it has been normal for 24 hours (without medication) your child may return to school.

KEEP GERMS AWAY EVERY DAY!

Washing Hands:

A simple and very effective way to stay healthy at school, work and home is to wash hands often and properly. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the single most important thing we can do to keep from getting sick and spreading illness to others is to clean our hands. Use soap and water or hand sanitizers/wipes.
