The Myakka Valley Trail Riders met at Hawk’s Flight Farm for an educational evening on horse breeding techniques. Members walked around the stalls viewing the Arabian mares and their babies. Then, some of the foals who were only weeks old, were brought out. Karin McIntrie, owner of the farm, discussed some of the more technical aspects of the horse rearing business. The club congratulated Karen Abbattista for winning a trip to the Rolex World Cup equestrian event in Las Vegas. She has been working with some of the horses at Hawk’s Flight Farm and you can check out her story in: www.dressage.com

The T-shirts arrived and have been distributed. Some members are interested in putting a new order, so there probably will be reordering at a future date.

April’s ride at “Our Father’s Haven” was perfect. The weather, the trails, the food, all contributed to a very satisfying experience. The club is contemplating a repeat trip in October. For more information please check out their website at: www.ofhbandb.com or call 352 793 7920.

There are no formal rides scheduled for the summer months. If you have a topic or a presentation that you would like to share, this might be the time to approach the club.
