To place a nomination, submit a signed nomination form, 1-page nominee biography, 1-page nominee narrative, 3-signed letters of endorsement (1 page each). The complete nomination package may not exceed 6 pages including nomination form. Nominations exceeding the page limit will be returned to the nominator. Complete nomination packages including the signed letters of endorsement must be received by AIAA no later than 5 December 2014. Please note that the nominator must ensure that the nominee is eligible for the award.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Nominee may be any K–12 teacher who supports AIAA in its efforts to bring “real world” STEM experiences to students.
  2. Past recipients may not apply for this award a second time.
  3. All recipients must be or become an AIAA Educator Associate member.
  4. Preference will be given to teachers who demonstrate active participation and use of AIAA resources in their classroom.
  5. Self-nominations are not permitted
  6. Nominator is not required to be a current AIAA Member
  7. Nominator may not also serve as a reference
  8. References are not required to be current AIAA Members
  9. One letter of endorsement should be provided by the Principal of the nominee’s school
  10. Completed nomination packages, including letters of endorsement, must be emailed in a single PDF document to AIAA Honors & Awards at no later 5 December 2014.

  • How the nominee has encouraged and facilitated the study of math, science, and engineering technical subjects in the classroom. Include ways the nominee has encouraged and motivated, challenged, and stimulated student creativity/innovation/interest, etc.
  • How the nominee used AIAA resources for the projects indicated above. Cite specific examples of local, regional, or national support, grant involvement, etc. (Please detail AIAA participation and use of resources. Preferences will be given to active AIAA participants.)
  • How the nominee has linked real-world opportunities/challenges with classroom experiences and inspired students to enter science- and math-related careers.
  • How the nominee has promoted and used extracurricular activities and projects or organized other functions to promote science and math.
  • Other pertinent information. (Any other information you feel is important when evaluating this nominee.)
