HONEYWELL VIDEO SYSTEMS HIGH QUALITY 14-INCH COLOR MONITOR

PART 1 – GENERAL

The intent of this document is to specify the minimum criteria for the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of the 14-inch Color Monitor.

1.01SUMMARY

  1. The compact, high quality 14-inch color monitor shall be designed for any commercial security or video surveillance application.

1.02REFERENCES

1.03DEFINITIONS

  1. No Substitutes: The exact make and model number identified in this specification shall be provided without exception.
  1. Or Equal: Any item may be substituted for the specified item provided that in every technical sense, the substituted item provides the same or better capability and functionality.
  1. Or Approved Equal: A substitute for the specified item may be offered for approval by the Owner. The proposed substitution must, in every technical sense, provide the same or better capability and functionality as the specified item. Such requests for approval shall be submitted in accordance with the provisions of PART 1.05 – SUBMITTALS, and must be obtained within the time frames outlined.

1.04SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. The compact, high quality 14-inch color monitor shall be designed for any commercial security or video surveillance application. The monitor must feature a sturdy metal housing, and deliver sharp color images with 400 TV lines of resolution.

1.05SUBMITTALS

  1. General: Submittals shall be made in accordance with the Conditions of the Contract and Submittal Procedures Section.
  1. Shop Drawings and Schematics: Shall depict the 14-inch Color Monitor in final proposed “as built” configuration. The following must be provided:
  1. Connection diagrams for interfacing equipment.
  2. List of connected equipment.
  3. Locations for all major equipment components to be installed under this specification.
  1. Product Data: The following shall be provided:
  1. Technical data sheets.
  2. A complete set of instruction manuals.
  1. Quality Assurance Submittals: The following shall be submitted:
  1. Checkout Report: The Contractor shall provide the Owner with a checkout report for each 14-inch Color Monitor. The report shall include:
  1. A complete list of every device.
  2. The date it was tested, and by whom.
  3. If retested, the date it was retested, and by whom.
  4. The final test report shall indicate that every device was tested successfully.
  1. Manufacturer’s Instructions: The Contractor shall deliver TBD sets of System Operation and Maintenance Manuals (if available) to the Owner.
  1. Notice of Completion: When the final acceptance has been satisfactorily completed, the Owner shall issue a notice of completion to the Contractor.

1.06QUALITY ASSURANCE

  1. Manufacturer’s Qualifications: The 14-inch Color Monitor manufacturer shall be the world’s largest and most experienced manufacturer of electronic security systems, with over seventy years of experience in the security industry. The manufacturer shall provide 24/7 technical assistance and support via a toll-free telephone number at no extra charge.

1.07DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

  1. General: Delivery, storage, and handling of the 14-inch Color Monitor shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  1. Ordering: The manufacturer’s ordering instructions and lead-time requirements must be followed in order to avoid installation delays.
  1. Delivery: The 14-inch Color Monitor shall be delivered in the manufacturer’s original, unopened, undamaged container with identification labels intact.
  1. Storage and Protection: The 14-inch Color Monitor shall be stored and protected from exposure to harmful weather conditions and at the environmental conditions recommended by the manufacturer.

1.11WARRANTY

  1. General: The warranty period shall be a minimum of thirty-six (36) months from the manufacture date code under normal use and service, with the CRT warranted for a minimum of twelve (12) months.

1.12MAINTENANCE

  1. Preventative Maintenance Agreement During Warranty: As a separate price item, the Contractor shall provide preventative maintenance during the warranty period. Maintenance shall include, but no be limited to:
  1. Labor and materials, at no additional cost, to repair the 14-inch Color Monitor.
  2. Labor and materials, at no additional cost, to provide test and adjustments to the 14-inch Color Monitor.
  3. Regular inspections.
  1. Preventative Maintenance Agreement: As a separate price item, the Contractor shall provide a complete Maintenance Agreement for a period of TBD months after the conclusion of the warranty period. The Maintenance Agreement shall include, but not be limited to:
  1. Labor and materials, at no additional cost, to repair the 14-inch Color Monitor.
  2. Labor and materials, at no additional cost, to provide test and adjustments to the 14-inch Color Monitor.
  3. Regular inspections.

1.13TRAINING

  1. Operator training shall be conducted for a minimum of TBD sessions, with a minimum session length of TBD hours at the customer’s site.
  1. Training shall include, but not be limited to, the 14-inch Color Monitor operation and diagnostics.

PART 2 – PRODUCTS

2.01MANUFACTURED UNITS

2.02SYSTEM PERFORMANCE

  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor shall include, as a minimum, the following features/functions/specifications:
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor must be protected by the most extensive support services in the industry, including Customer Service, Pre-Sales Applications Assistance, After-Sales Technical Assistance, access to Technical Online Support, and Online Training using web conferencing.
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor and its components shall be thoroughly tested before shipping from the manufacturer’s facility.
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor shall feature a high quality, heavy-duty metal cabinet designed for any commercial or video surveillance application. The unit must incorporate convenient recessed front panel controls to make setup and adjustment quick and easy, while restricting movement caused by accidental contact. The monitor must have the following front panel controls:
  1. Volume
  2. Sharpness
  3. Contrast
  4. Brightness
  5. Color
  6. Tint
  7. Y/C Selector
  8. A/B Selector
  9. Power Switch
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor shall deliver sharp color images with 400 TV lines of resolution, and must support two composite video inputs (A/B) and one looping Y/C video input. The input BNC’s shall be auto terminating, so that no terminating resistors are required if not looping to other devices in the system. When both composite and Y/C signals are present, the monitor must automatically give preference to the Y/C input source.
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor shall be ideal for single camera viewing, or for multiple camera displays when using a quad or multiplexer.
  1. The same 14-inch Color Monitor must operate on either NTSC or PAL, at either 120VAC or 230 VAC, to comply with worldwide standards. The installer shall have the ability to switch between NTSC or PAL video standards by means of a simple selector switch.
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor shall utilize a latching power switch that remains in its set position, either on or off, eliminating the need to turn the unit back on in the event of a power loss. An illuminated green LED beside the power button shall confirm that power is being supplied to the monitor.
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor shall include audio input and output connectors to allow the user to listen-in as well as view the monitored area.
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor shall have the ability to be rack mounted into a 19” EIA rack using an optional rack mount kit.
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor shall be an HONEYWELL Video HMC14X or equivalent.

PART 3 – EXECUTION

3.01 EXAMINATION

  1. Submission of a proposal confirms that the contract documents and site conditions are accepted without qualifications unless exceptions are specifically noted.
  1. The site shall be visited on a regular basis to appraise ongoing progress of other trades and contractors, make allowances for all ongoing work, and coordinate the requirements of this contract in a timely manner.
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor must be inspected before installation, and shall be free of any cosmetic defects or damage.

3.02 PREPARATION

  1. Prior to installation, the 14-inch Color Monitor shall be configured and tested in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

3.03 INSTALLATION

  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor must be installed, programmed, and tested in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  1. In order to ensure a complete, 14-inch Color Monitor, for bidding purposes, where information is not available from the Owner upon request, the worst-case condition shall be assumed.
  1. Interfaces shall be coordinated with the Owner’s representative, where appropriate.
  1. All necessary backboxes, racks, connectors, supports, conduit, cable, and wire must be furnished and installed to provide a complete and reliable 14-inch Color Monitor installation. Exact location of all boxes, conduit, and wiring runs shall be presented to the Owner for approval in advance of any installation.
  1. All conduit, cable, and wire shall be installed parallel and square with building lines, including raised floor areas. Conduit fill shall not exceed forty percent (40%). All wires shall be gathered and tied up to create an orderly installation.

3.04 TESTING AND CERTIFICATION

  1. The Contractor shall demonstrate the functionality of the 14-inch Color Monitor upon completion of installation, documenting the result of all tests and providing these results to the Owner. The 14-inch Color Monitor shall be tested in accordance with the following:
  1. The Contractor shall conduct a complete inspection and test of all installed 14-inch Color Monitor equipment. This includes testing and verifying operation with connected equipment.
  1. The Contractor shall provide staff to test all devices and all operational features of the system for witness by the Owner’s representative and the Authority Having jurisdiction. All testing must be witnessed by the Owner’s representative, prior to acceptance.
  1. The testing and certification shall take place as follows:
  1. The 14-inch Color Monitor shall be tested in conjunction with the manufacturer’s representative.
  2. All deficiencies noted in the above test shall be corrected.
  3. Test results shall be submitted to the consultant or Owner’s representative.
  4. The test and correction of any deficiencies shall be witnessed by the owner’s representative, and note.
  5. The Owner’s representative shall accept the system.
  6. The system test shall be witnessed by the Authority Having Jurisdiction. Any deficiencies noted during the testing must be corrected.
  1. A letter of certification shall be provided to indicate that the tests have been performed, and all devices are operational.
