HomeworkAlabama.org Continues to Help Thousands of Students Get Better Grades

Now with seven days per week availability!

DATELINE, Month Day, Year - With the 2016/2017 school year upon us, the INSERT LIBRARY reminds our community that the library provides many great resources to help students and parents be successful and save money. One of the most widely used library resources across the state is HomeworkAlabama.org. In 2004, the Alabama Public Library Service launched HomeworkAlabama.org to help students across the state receive equal access to critical academic support. Since its launch, HomeworkAlabama.org has served over 570,000 on-demand tutoring and homework help sessions to Alabama students, parents, adult learners and job seekers. Ninety-five percent (95%) of survey respondents report that HomeworkAlabama.org helps them improve their grades, complete their homework assignments and raise their confidence.

HomeworkAlabama.org includes live, one-to-one tutoring, a real-time writing center, test preparation, practice quizzes and 24/7 access to worksheets, videos and tutorials.

Any Alabama resident can access the online service from the library or right from home on any computer or mobile device connected to the Internet. Expanded from just five days of service per week in the past, Academic tutoring is now available 3:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., SEVEN days per week while job search assistance and career coaching is available 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. There is no cost to students for using the service as HomeworkAlabama.org is a statewide effort made possible by the State Library of Alabama (APLS) through local public libraries, with funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services through their Library Services and Technology Act grant program as well as state funds requested by Governor Riley and appropriated by the State Legislature specifically for this program.

Help for K-12 Students, College Students and Adults

Students of all ages and job seekers can find the help they need by simply visiting the library’s website and looking for Tutor.com. Tutor.com has a network of over 3,100 professional academic and career tutors who are ready to help with just about any question you may have. Here’s the type of help you can get in each center.

·  Academic Tutoring: Students in kindergarten through second-year college students as well as adult learners can get help with homework, test preparation, skills and concepts they are learning in class as well as Advanced Placement® test preparation and college entrance exams. Subjects include math, science, English, Spanish, social studies, ACT®/SAT®, GED®/HiSET®, Microsoft® Office and writing.
