First Grade News: We are now studying the life cycle of the Painted Lady Butterfly. Tiny caterpillars have arrived and we are watching them closely on our desks during this stage of the life cycle. Attached to the HW Chart this week, is a calendar showing the different stages of the butterfly’s life cycle and about when each stage takes place. The students are writing in a booklet called Diary of a Caterpillar from the caterpillar’s point of view. We have read the books, Diary of a Worm and Diary of a Fly during class to help them see how the animal’s character tells about his life in a diary format. This week, we will be reading Frog and Toad stories and focusing on the main idea and details, beginning, middle and end and story maps.

Reminders:

  • Our first grade field trip is on Tuesday, May 12th. Please bring a brown bagged lunch and have your child wear his/her RIF shirt
