Homes WE NEED IN OUR LIVES

Joshua 24:13-15 (King James Version)
13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.
14 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

I)A CHRISTIAN HOME

Joshua 24:15 (King James Version)
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

You can’t have it both ways…

B)yourhome is either “Christian” or not…

1)your home must be a sincere Christian home.

C)WE can’t have it both ways.

1 Kings 18:21 (King James Version)
21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

D)Like Joshua, the men here need to make a choice.

II)CHURCH HOME

Acts 2:41-47 (King James Version) TURN TO
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

A)Place of learning (42)

B)Place of fellowship & meals (42)

C)Place of sharing & helping (44-45)

Hebrews 10:23-25 (King James Version)
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

3)There are occasions when one can’t get home (flood, snow, work, SICKNESS, out of state), but that is the exception – not the rule!

III)A CELESTIAL HOME

John 14:1-6 (King James Version)
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

A)As wonderful as the two previous homes are (or can be), they pale in comparison to the celestial home that is awaiting those that love God and are waiting for him!

Isaiah 64:4 (King James Version)
4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
