HOME OFFICE RIGHT TO WORK CHECK FOR EXTERNAL ADVISERS

Guidance for nominees on the University’s procedure for checking External Advisers’ right to work in the UK

We would draw to your attention that, in order to fulfil Home Office requirements, we ask nominees to provide details of their nationality, and to declare whether or not they require permission to work in the UK, on the nomination form completed at the start of the nomination process. The nominee is also asked to send a scanned copy of their ID (passport (front cover with crest and personal details page/s) and visa, or other relevant documentation that demonstrates their ability to work lawfully in the UK, if required) to the relevant Quality Administrator. Pages 2 and 3 of this document provide further guidance on acceptable documentation.

Final approval of your nomination cannot be confirmed until the required documentation has been received. At the time of your visit to the University or one of its partner institutionsyou will be asked to bring the original of your passport (and visa, if appropriate) with you for a visual check of your identity. Failure to provide this documentation may jeopardise your attendance at the meeting and we will be unable to process your fee or expenses payment until the check is complete.

Please note that this check must be completed for all nominees, not just those who are non-UK nationals, in order to be able to demonstrate that our procedures are not discriminatory. We would ask for your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
