The London 2012 ‘Open Weekend’, is an annual UK-wide celebration of art,culture, sport, and everything that makes up the London 2012 Games. It’s anopportunity for local community groups to showcase themselves and inspireothers. Suffolk Open Weekend is making grantsavailable to enable parish or town councils, community groups and groups ofindividuals across Suffolk to hold small cultural and sporting events to mark London2012 Open Weekend. Grants from The Suffolk Foundation

The Suffolk Foundation manages and distributes charitable funds for individuals and companies who want to support local voluntary and community activity. In addition, donations of all sizes are pooled into an endowed fund to provide income to support local community activity. In this way, all donations can make a real and lasting difference to our communities.

The AXA Insurance Fund

Grants of up to £2,800 to charitable, voluntary and community groups working for the benefit of people living in Ipswich, Haverhill and surrounding villages. (This fund has a quarterly theme, so please call The Suffolk Foundation for details.)

The Baker Tilly Fund

Grants of up to £2,000 to charitable, voluntary and community groups that work to enrich lives of the Suffolk people.

The Barclay Family Fund

One annual grant of up to £1,000 to charitable, voluntary and community groups that work to enrich the lives of Suffolk people.

The Bluebell Fund

Grants of up to £2,000 to charitable, voluntary and community groups supporting children and young people in East Suffolk.

The Chapman Family Fund

Grants of up to £2,000 to charitable, voluntary and community groups supporting children and young people in Babergh.

The Cheffins Community Fund

Grants of up to £500 to charitable, voluntary and community groups working to help people in need in Newmarket, Haverhill and surrounding villages.

The Comic Relief Fund

Grants of up to £10,000 to support charitable, voluntary and community groups who are increasing local services; building skills of local people; promoting community cohesion; responding to local economic needs or providing sport and exercise for Suffolk people who are excluded or disadvantaged.

The Essex and Suffolk Water Fund

Grants of up to £500 to charitable, voluntary and community groups in areas serviced by Essex & Suffolk Water.

Grassroots Grants Programme

The Lovewell Blake Fund

Grants of up to £2,000 to charitable, voluntary and community groups who are working to tackle disadvantage in the communities of Waveney.

The Port Community Fund

Grants of up to £2,000 to charitable, voluntary and community groups addressing the needs of residents in Felixstowe and surrounding villages.

The Small Grants Fund

Grants of up to £900 to charitable, voluntary and community groups that address Suffolk’s priority needs, which include children and young people, the elderly, the disadvantaged (e.g., homelessness, low-income families, rural isolation), carers, racial and cultural integration and health and wellbeing (e.g., drug and alcohol misuse, disabilities, mental health issues, domestic violence).

Awards for all

Awards for All England is a simple small grants scheme making awards of between £300 and £10,000.The Awards for All programme aims to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need.

To do this we want to fund projects that meet one or more of the following outcomes:

  • People have better chances in life - with better access to training and development to improve their life skills.
  • Stronger communities - with more active citizens working together to tackle their problems.
  • Improved rural and urban environments - which communities are better able to access and enjoy.
  • Healthier and more active people and communities.

You may be eligible to apply for an Awards for All grant if you can meet one of the criteria mentioned above, and:

  • you are a not-for-profit group (including social enterprises), or you are a parish or town council, school or health body.
  • you have a bank account that requires at least two unrelated people to sign each cheque or withdrawal.
  • you have a governing body with at least three unrelated members
  • you can spend the grant within one year.

PRS Foundation - Awards to Promoters 2010

Deadline: 12 February, 16 April, 9 August and 15 October 2010

To qualify for the PRS Foundation's Promoters scheme, you must:
• have at least one year's track record of promoting events;
• be promoting at least eight events over a 12 month period (Making Music music clubs must be promoting at least three concerts during this period);
• be programming new British music of any genre.

Support local culture and heritage (B&Q)

Projects that support, enhance and celebrate valuable aspects of local culture and heritage, including its roots and traditions, local buildings, local building techniques, local produce and local arts and crafts. Examples of activity might include restoring an historic building or museum or refurbishing workshops used to teach various arts and crafts techniques.

Community Projects - Minor Grants

Support is aimed at local communities seeking 'one off' grants of up to £1,000 for small scale projects that help to promote community activities including high-quality art projects.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the suitability of your group/project for MSDC Grant Aid, please do not hesitate to contact the Community Development Officer . If you are in the early stages of developing your group or project the Community Development Officer can also provide help, guidance and training on virtually every aspect of the process, including recruiting members; setting up the group; writing a constitution and other policy documents; forward planning etc.

IPSWICH ARTS GRANTS

Ipswich Borough Council’s and Turnstoneannual revenue Arts Grants are for individual performers, artists, groups and organisations. The Ipswich Arts Grants offer a number of awards (starting at £100.) The grants are designed to assist our local talent with costs associated with the development of the arts in Ipswich.

The closing date for grant applications isNovember each year. Once applications have been received they go to the Arts Grants Panel for approval. Successful applicants can expect to receive confirmation of their grant application by the end of December .

The council is committed to supporting voluntary organisations and community groups which operate within St Edmundsbury and whose services support the councils aims and objectives.

The councils grants schemes include:

Arts grants:

Awards up to £500 to help towards art and cultural projects

Capital grants for a specific project or initiative:

Successful applicants include Lidgate Village Hall Committee who completely refurbished their hall, Kedington Parish Councilwho upgraded their children's play area, and Cavendish Wanderers Cricket Clubwho purchasedsome capital equipment.

Core funding:

To help voluntary and community organisations with their running costs. Examples include The Citizens Advice Bureau, The Volunteer Centres, a local history group and communities entering the Britain in Bloom competitions.

Grants for less than £250:

For community based organisations and charities. These currently include annual grants to resident associations and a percentage discount on the rates for hire of St Edmundsbury's halls.

Rural Areas Community Initiatives Fund:

Capital grants awarded from £500 to £5000 towards community projects.
