MANICURING/NAIL TECH

INFORMATION SHEET 2018

*All students are required to wear their uniforms, name tags and shoes on first day of class.*

Name Tags: You will need 1 hard name tag with Your Name and “Manicurist Only” under the name. (We suggest that you purchase an extra name tag for each in case you lose one. It typically takes about 5-7 days to replace and you cannot attend class without it).

Purchase at: Bullock’s Engraving, Screen Masters Engraving or any engraving or trophy shop.

Uniforms: The style of uniform is your choice but it must be a clean, washable, solid light Gray nursing uniform that fits you appropriately. You will need at least 2-3 uniforms for classes. Uniform must continually cover your body from neck to ankles. There are no sleeveless or low cut uniforms allowed. A clean uniform each day is mandatory. Uniforms that become excessively faded, stained or discolored cannot be worn and must be replaced. Purchase at: REW, Walmart, or any uniform store.

Shoes: The style of shoe must be a tennis shoe or a nursing shoe. Shoe must be completely closed in with no holes or openings anywhere on shoe. NO OPEN TOES ALLOWED. Shoes must be solid black without other colors, stripes, designs and etc. on them. Be sure to get a good pair because you will be on your feet for long periods of time.

Kit: VGCC Nail Tech. program kit from the VGCC bookstore-approximately $95

Material: Hands-on working material will be supplied for you at no additional cost but if you break or destroy any items you must replace them at item cost.

Book Costs: Milady’s Standard Nail Technology Book. Approx. $150.00 (VGCC Bookstore) Also required: Flash Drive.

Tuition: Approximate cost: $210 per semester.

Malpractice Insurance: Approximately $14.50, student must pay this insurance along with tuition.

*ALL students will need a government issued picture ID & a Social Security Card for their file.*

This is a NC State Board requirement.

**ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND CLASSES**

This is a 320 hour program with a minimum of 300 hours being required for completion and eligibility for the state licensure exam. Daily attendance is necessary in order to complete the required hours and services. You must complete all state requirements and pass the class in order to receive the application for the exam.
