POLICY STATEMENT

Home and Community Support Services of Grey-Bruce strives to provide competitive salaries and benefits relevant to the industry sector and marketplace. HCSSGB positions itself as a "statistically average" employer and therefore endeavours, subject to organization affordability, to set rates of pay which match average rates of pay for the relevant labour markets. The salary structure and benefit program for all employees is reviewed regularly.

The Executive Director is responsible for setting the rates of pay for all other staff based upon the job description for the position, comparisons to like positions within the community service sector, level of responsibility and affordability. The Board of Directors is responsible for setting the rate of pay for the Executive Director.

INCREASES BASED UPON HOURS WORKED

Individual salary increases are given on the basis of hours worked. Length of service’ increases are based upon the formula of 35 hours a week multiplied by 52 weeks or 1,820 hours. Employees who are contracted for a specific period of time will begin at the first level of the appropriate pay grid. This hourly rate will not change during the life of the contract. If the contract is renewed, the contracted employee may move to the six month level of the appropriate grid; if they worked 910 or more hours during their first contract.

The Performance Review & Development Plan instrument is used to set performance expectations and assess results, however is not tied to pay level increases.
