Hollywood Squares, Taboo, Smush and Twister

Friday, November 21, 9:15 – 10:15 PM

Description: USYers will be divided into 4 groups, each assigned to start at a certain game. Groups will rotate every 15 minutes to a new game. (Smaller teams will be different at each game)

Hollywood Squares:

  • We will need 9 people to fill in the spaces on the tic-tac-toe boards
  • The group will be split into two teams and they will compete against each other to complete the board (one team is “X’ and the other is “O”)
  • Lily will be the host and will ask the questions
  • The people on the board will see the questions in advance and will be told to either answer truthfully or give funny answers.
  • The supplies that we will need are:
  • Podiums for each team to show who is up
  • Name tags for the people who are on the board
  • Cards for the host telling him the questions
  • Script for the people on the boards
  • Giant X’s and O’s to put on the board to show where each team has gone
  • Score cards
  • Little prizes (from Oriental Trading) that the team will win?
  • Instructions for this game:
  • The group will be split up into two smaller teams; one will be x and one will be o
  • These teams will try to complete the tic-tac-to board by getting three in a row first
  • Each time the team wins a round (one game), that team will get a certain number of points
  • The team with the most points will get a little prize
  • The way that the game is played is one team will be asked a question. That team chooses a person on the board to answer it. If the team agrees with the person’s answer, they say “agree” and if they don’t, they say “don’t agree”. If the team gets the answer correct (correctly guess agree or don’t agree), then they get that spot. If they answer incorrectly, the other team gets the spot. The always happens unless the other team will win by getting the spot. If this is the case, they must get the spot on their own. The first team to get tic-tac-toe wins the round!
  • Questions for games:
  • In what year did “Clueless” come out? (1995)
  • Complete the lyric…”Stacy’s mom has…” (got it goin’ on)
  • How long has The Simpsons been on air? (14 years)
  • The Fonz was the cool guy on what television show? (Happy Days)
  • Name the gang on Friends (Ross, Rachel, Joey, Chandler, Phoebe, Monica)
  • Mt.Rushmore is located in what state? (South Dakota)
  • In the book, Catcher in the Rye, Holden runs off to what city? (New York)
  • This team is the reigning NCAA basketball champions? (SyracuseUniversity)
  • The television show Angel on the WB network is a spin off of what other vampire show? (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
  • Nirvana released their first album in what year? (1989)
  • What is the only food that doesn’t spoil? (honey)
  • Where was the first International Convention held? (New York City)
  • According to American Films Institute, what is the top movie of the 20th century? (“Citizen Kane”)
  • What was the first color movie? (“Wizard of Oz”)
  • What was the first full length Disney movie? (“Snow White”)
  • What is the main export of Australia? (wool)
  • What are the two horses to win the Triple Crown? (Man of War and Seabiscuit)
  • Which NBA team is named after an article of clothing? (The New York Knickerbockers)
  • What is the only team to go undefeated in the NFL? (Miami Dolphins)

Taboo:

  • We will need one judge/host for this game. The judge will make sure that the teams are not cheating by saying the words on the card. They will also make sure that everything is kept in line and the teams are being fair as to who goes up to do the clue.
  • The teams will also be broken down into smaller teams. Depending on the final number of people we have per team, we will divide the teams into 2 or 3 smaller teams.
  • Supplies needed:
  • Multiple copies of the game taboo
  • A stopwatch
  • Prizes for the fastest team (?)
  • Instructions for the game are:
  • Each group will be divided into smaller teams and they will compete within their team. One player (that rotates) will be given a clue, and they must use any word other than the one written on the card to describe the clue. The team will go around in the circle guessing as to what the clue is so that it can be done in an orderly fashion. Each team will have a designated time limit to guess the clues (same time for every team). The team that gets the fastest clue-guessing time will win a small prize.

Twister:

  • The teams will again be broken up into smaller groups so that there are approximately 7-10 people per team. Five or so players will go on the board at one time.
  • We need one person to spin the board for all of the teams, and we will also need one person per team (smaller team) in order to find cheating, people who are out, etc.
  • Supplies for this game:
  • Multiple twister games
  • Multiple spinners
  • The instructions needed for this game:
  • Each team will be broken down into smaller teams that will compete against each other (in the same team). Around 5 people will go on the board at one time so that no one gets hurt. The object of the game is to stay up for the longest time. The person who is spinning the spinner will call out a color and a body part (right/left arm and leg) and you must place that specific body part on the color without lifting up any of the other body parts that are already in a designated place. You must do this without falling over, and if you do, you are out.
