Police Committee Meeting

Present: Kris KieperMachajewski,Stan Maligranda, Chief Todd Stockburger, Sgt Jeff White

  1. Call to Order – 5:35 p.m.
  2. Public Comment - None
  3. Disclosure of any conflict of interest – None noted
  4. Approve Minutes – Trustee Maligranda motioned to accept the minutes dated January 25, 2017; seconded, Approved.
  5. 2017 Budget Review – Reviewed 2017 budget to date. Will review PT, OT, FT salary lines at the March Police Committee meeting.
  6. IDROP Update – Lori Schultz is waiting to see if any hits to IDROP have been made, she’s currently waiting for a call from an IDROP representative. The WPD turned over unpaid administrative fees to IDROP.
  7. IL Records Disposal Act Update – In accordance with permission from state of Illinois, Diane Frew and the Chief have sorted and shredded 600 pounds of police department records. Process is almost complete.
  8. Equipment Update – The sale of the Jeep will be investigated in April, one year post acquisition. We will work with the Village Attorney after April to draft the ordinance to sell.
  9. Community Policing – Reviewed statistics of community policing efforts. Reviewed the detailed community policing reports for 2016. 2016 numbers will be provided to the Board at the March meeting.
  10. Sergeant’s Report: Police Memorial Week is in May. May 19th is the breakfast at the Tebala. We will have a squad car on display at Cherry Vale Mall March 19-21.

Officer Nick Haff has completed his FTO training and will be updating the FTO manual.

  1. Chief’s Report:
  • Advertised the part time position on the VOW website and WPD Facebook page.
  • Vacation Hours – Officers are at or less than 232 hours with this pay period and are submitting hour for time off as necessary to remain under the threshold.
  • IDOT STEP Grant – Received an email from Cindy Titus, IDPPT Senior Claims Specialist on 2/21/2017 alerting WPD that our claims are being processed and payment should be received by 3/6/17.
  • DARE will begin on March 7, 2017 and conclude on May 17, 2017 with graduation at WHS at 6:30.
  • National Night Out is scheduled for August 1, 2017. We will seek permission from Winnebago Schools to utilize the High School and parking lot.
  • We are beginning to work with KNIB to organize the next medication collection drive.
