Summary of key employee benefits

Holiday / Holiday is expressed in hours and is booked (min.1 hour) through the HR system, Cascade.
Holiday entitlements are inclusive of the compulsory days in that holiday year (see the employee handbook). Your entitlement in a particular year will be dependent on the number of compulsory days and your length of service. Page two of this document shows holiday entitlements until 2020.
Sick pay / During Probation Period / 2 weeks full pay
After Probation Period and up to 2 years’ service / 1 month full pay and 1 month half pay
Over 2 years’ service / 3 months full pay and 3 months half pay
Pension / Social Housing Pension Scheme, defined contribution. The employee decides how much they want to contribute between 3% and 8% and Magna will match this. We use this scheme for auto-enrolment so new starters will be enrolled unless they complete an opt-out form.
Childcare vouchers / Magna have partnered with Edenred to provide our childcare vouchers. The monthly voucher amount is deducted from salary before tax and NI through salary sacrifice. The maximum amount per month is £243 but the exact amount you can deduct will depend on your earnings and ensuring that you still receive minimum wage.
Medicash / Medicash provide a cash-back scheme for day to day medical related items, subject to an annual claim limit. Magna pay for the scheme but the employee needs to pay tax on the benefit. You will be enrolled onto the scheme from the 1st of the month after you join us.

Medicash Extras / Medicash Extras is a free website that offers employees discounts on everyday items such as supermarkets and clothing retailers, as well as bigger purchases such as holidays.
Mileage / If you are required to use your own vehicle to perform your job, then Magna will pay you 45p per mile. We will also pay you an additional 5p per mile for any passengers.

Holiday entitlements up to 2020

To calculate your holiday entitlement you need to multiply the number of weeks stated in the table below by your weekly contracted hours.

For example in 2017/18, if you do 37 hours a week and have over 3 years’ service, then your holiday entitlement for the year would be 37 x 7.6 weeks = 281.2 hours.

Important information to note -

  • Entitlements vary each year dependent on whether the Easter bank holidays fall in March or April.
  • Length of service refers to complete holiday years’ service eg an employee starting employment in September 2017 would reach their 2 holiday years’ service on 1 April 2020.
  • If you start, leave or changes your contracted hours during the holiday year then your entitlement will be pro rata.
  • Compulsory days will be added to holiday records at the start of the holiday year, the system will make a deduction for hours that you would have been due to work on these days – refer to the employee handbook for more information on compulsory days.
