Holiday Air Volution 300 Trailer Tent

INSURANCE

We highly recommend that your trailer tent is insured against theft, storm and accidental damage as these are not covered under the Manufacturer’s Warranty.

IMPORTANT – CHECK YOUR EQUIPMENT

Before going away with your trailer tent, ensure that you are familiar with the pitching of the trailer tent and that all parts are present. You should familiarize yourself with the trailer tent including any limitations it may have for your particular use. A trailer tent is a portable structure, which, under most circumstances, will provide comfortable shelter against the elements. There may however be extremes of weather for which allowance should be made.DON’T BLAME THE TRAILER TENT.

SUITABILITY

Position: Sheltered lowland/valley

Weather: Fair/moderate

PITCHING THE CABIN

Before pitching your trailer tent it is essential that you read the following:-

CHOOSING A SITE/CABIN CANVAS

Try to choose a site that is relatively flat. Avoid sites where the land may flood or where water will run down. DO NOT pitch directly under trees. Pitching near a hedge or wall may provide shelter against wind.AVOID areas with heavy pollution and where crop spraying may be in progress.

  1. On the chosen site it will be necessary to make the trailer as level as possible and to take the weight of the trailer off the wheels to provide a stable cabin.
  2. Using the jockey wheel, adjust the height of the trailer so that the front end is about 5cm lower than level. Drop the rear legs of the trailer onto the supplied jack pads and tighten the lockingscrews.
  3. Using the jockey wheel, raise the front of the trailer until the unit is level. Drop the front legs of the trailer onto the jack pads and tighten. Lower the jockey wheel slightly to allow the trailer’s weight to be borne by the legs.
  4. Unclip and remove the transit cover.
  5. Swing over the near side cabin roof frame. The canvas will automatically follow – see Fig.1
  6. Repeat for the offside and then swing the central roof sections up to the apex and connect the two sections front and rear – see Fig. 2
  7. Extend the cabin poles to their maximum length using the spring buttons and fold over the left and right hand beds in that order. Adjust the legs to provide level beds – see Fig. 3
  8. Undo retaining straps that secure inner tent and mattress to the bed board and clip inner tent onto the frame using plastic clips (all Holiday trailer tents are delivered without the inner tents or mattress covers fitted. Once fitted however the inner tents can remain in situ and need only be unclipped from the frame for folding).
  9. Pull down cabin canvas and adjust the frame downward so that the pegging points comfortably reach the ground and peg down into the ground – see Fig. 4
  10. Ensure pegging points attached to zips are crossed to allow correct tension and for zips to open and close correctly.

PITCHING THE AWNING

Inflatable Tubes

The awning canvas uses inflatable bladders, retained within a reinforced, zipped oxford polyester retaining sleeve to support the awning’s flysheet. These ‘inflatable tubes’ only require 5psi of pressure to give a rigid support. WARNING – DO NOT OVER INFLATE as this may cause the bladder to rupture. The air valves on the tubes are attached with retaining straps but are not pre-fitted and will need to be screwed into place. Carefully screw the valve’s body on ensuring that you do not cross the valve’s thread. Do not over tighten but ensuresufficiently tight to produce a good seal. Where there has been a drop in the ambient temperature and you have topped up the air, please monitor the tube carefully because when the ambient temperature rises, the pressure is likely to increase and you may need to release some air. See section headed VALVES with regard to care and storage.

AIR PUMP

The trailer tent is supplied with a manually operated air pump, specifically designed for use with the awning’s air valves. You must not use any other type of pump (including 12V tyre inflators or air compressors).

Before using the pump, it will need to be assembled. Unpack the pump and its components. Attach the dump valve to the outlet side indicated by an arrow pointing away from the handle and marked ‘inflate’. Fitting to the other side will cause the pump to suck air (deflate) rather than blow. Attach the hose/pressure gauge. Finally, fit the end nozzle to the inflator hose. Note: select largest nozzle.

Please note that your pump is fitted with a dump valve and it is essential you use this pump to avoid over inflation. OVER INFLATION IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY.

  1. Lay the awning flysheet out on the selected ground area with the entrance correctly positioned.
  2. Zip the awning canvas onto cabin canvas using two heavy duty zips and ensuring the baffle/zip cover is in place.
  3. Secure the awning canvas to the ground by the four corner pegging points using the awning pegs.
  4. Each inflatable tube is fitted with a single inflation valve, which is at ground level. Starting with the inflatable tube nearest the cabin ie the back inflatable tube and working forwards inflate the tubes one by one. To do this, remove the valve cap (turn anti clockwise) (the valve cap should be attached to the valve body by a plastic tab, if not make sure you keep the cap safe ready to replace once inflation is complete) insert the nozzle of the inflator hose into the valve using firm pressure. Operate the pump, making necessary adjustments to the awning flysheet. It may be necessary to lift the tubes to help position them during the last stages of inflation. Once you reach a pressure of 5 psi, stop pumping. Carefully disconnect the nozzle and replace the valve cap making sure not to cross the valves thread. Repeat this action with all the inflatable tubes. After use, ensure the pump is kept somewhere safe. Bring the awning canvas to an upright position by pegging out the storm mate straps. These may need to be re-pegged later.

STORM MATE STRAPS

Attach the supplied storm mate straps to the captive clips positioned on the awning and cabin canvas. The storm straps are designed to help secure the awning in windy conditions but are not to be relied upon as an anchor in severe adverse weather. Use these to guy out your trailer tent at a later stage. When using the centre front storm strap on the awning canvas, we recommend that you use storm poles in the integrated pockets in the front of the awning canvas running parallel to each side of the front door.

ENTRANCE

Ensure that all entrances to the awning are closed with all zips fully secured. If this is not done now, the awning will be out of alignment when fitting the awning pegs.

PEGGING THE TRAILER TENT

Peg the trailer tent in the following sequence

  1. Close all doors and other zips
  2. Re peg one rear corner. Peg in line with the seam inserting the peg at a 45 degree angle. Go to the other corner to re peg, Stretch the rear of the trailer tent canvas . The canvas will become taut without any creases. Once again peg in line with the seam as before.
  3. Go to the front corners and repeat this procedure pulling the canvas forward when pegging to make sure that there are as few creases as possible. ANY DOORS OR EXTERIOR ZIPS MUST BE CLOSED TO THE BOTTOM TO SUCCESSFULLY PEG YOUR TRAILER TENT.
  4. Working from the rear centre pegging points, continue to peg your trailer tent. The canvas should always be taut with no creases and the pegs should all be in line with each other. It is not necessary to pull the canvas out too far – a straight line is preferable from corner to corner. Cross peg all doorways to avoid excess tension on zips and to prevent them from working their way open.
  5. When you are finished th trailer tent canvas should be taut with no flapping canvas. Each side should be pegged neatly and in as straight a line as possible. Where possible, pegs should be in line with the seam. PLEASE TAKE EXTREME CARE WHEN PITCHING YOUR TRAILER TENT IN WINDY CONDITIONS AND ENSURE YOU HAVE ADEQUATE HELP.

INNER TENTS

It will be necessary, on first use, to fit the inner tents. This is a simple procedure. Fit the covers to the large and small mattresses. Insert the large bed mattresses into the base of the inner tent and clip the top of the inner to the cabin frame. The small mattress (seat cushions) also fit within the inner tent to enlarge the bed. Once fitted the inner tents need only be unclipped from the frame before folding the frame down. The mattresses and inner tents are secured when folding by the retaining straps. DO NO PUT MUCH STRESS ONTO THE INNER TENT SUSPENSION POINTS.

A roof lining is provided which simply clips into the centre on the cabin frame.

GUYING THE TRAILER TENT

The trailer tent should be guyed using the guying points supplied on the trailer tent. Please note that guying is only reliable if the correct tent peg is used and the peg is inserted correctly.

PEGS

General purpose pegs are supplied with this trailer tent and are suitable in many instances. There are many types of pegs available and it’s up to you to choose peg for the job. Your SunnCamp dealer will be a ble to give you advice.

MUDWALL

The mudwall is located on the inside of the trailer tent awning and the groundsheet provided can be laid on top of it in the living area. The groundsheet comes with eyelets to enable you to peg into the ground. Broken eyelets are not covered under the Manufacturer’s Warranty.

STORM POLE POCKETS

In the awning canvas, there are two integral storm pole pockets running parallel to each side of the front door and a further two in the centre air beams and when used in conjunction with our SunnCamp optional upright poles (DT0052) can be used in certain conditions to aid stability and help water dispersal.. When using the centre front storm strap on the awning canvas, we recommend that you use storm poles in the integrated pockets in the front of the awning canvas running parallel to each side of the front door.

TAKING YOUR TRAILER TENT DOWN

If possible this should be done when the trailer tent is completely dry.

Remove all storm straps and guy lines prior to taking down and ensure they are dry before being packed away.

Reverse the erection procedure remembering to unclip the inner tents before folding. Take care to fold beds and cabin frame in the correct order – failure to do this will result in damage. PLEASE TAKE EXTREME CARE WHEN TAKING DOWN YOUR TRAILER TENT IN WINDY CONDITIONS. DO NOT TRY TO TAKE YOUR TRAILER TENT DOWN ONYOUR OWN – GET SOMEBODY TO HELP YOU.

To deflate the tubes on the awning canvas, access the respective valve, turn the valve’s air release collar anticlockwise to remove and allow the stored air to escape. The release collar will remain attached by a plastic tab.DO NOT refit the valves before storing. Please note that un-pegging can be carried out before, during or after deflation. The awning canvas should be carefully rolled prior to placing back in its carry/storage bag.

CARE OF YOUR TRAILER TENT

CANVAS

This should always be packed away and stored completely dry. If you have to take your trailer tent down wet, then at the first possible opportunity, PITCH THE TRAILER TENT TO DRY IT. DO NOT LEAVE IT PACKED WET. Damp storage will cause mildew and may result in colour run

NEVER clean your trailer tent with anything other than pure water and a damp cloth NEVER USE detergents, petrol, turps etc.Your trailer tent comes with a wipe clean PVC coated polyester base panel to protect this vulnerable area.

It may be necessary to reproof your canvas at sometime. The time will vary according to the amount of use and the prevailing conditions. There are many good waterproofing agents available – see your SunnCamp dealer for details. NEVER use aerosols or other chemicals close to your trailer tent canvas

CABIN FRAME

Take are not to put excess strain on your frame. When erecting or dismantling, make srure that you do not over extend the spring links. Should this happen, your SunnCamp dealer will be able to supply replacements. Should your frame require any lubrication of moving parts we advise the use of a silicon spray. DO NO USE ANY OIL BASED PRODUCTS.

AWNING FRAME – INFLATABLE BLADDERS

Please note that a repair patch is included to repair small holes. Spare inflatable bladders, with full instructions, are available to purchase fromyour SunnCamp dealer.

CURTAINS

Your Trailer Tent’s awning canvas has velcro style curtains on all windows which can be rolled down when not in use.

Your Trailer Tent’s cabin canvas has a zipped style curtain which can also be rolled up when not in use.

Ensure curtains are dry before packing your trailer tent away.

UV DETERIORATION

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can weaken the fabric of the awning. To avoid the risk of UV deterioration, site the trailer tent in a shaded area, where it will be protected from exposure to strong sunlight.

MOISTURE

Moisture collecting on the inside of the awning’s fabric is condensation caused by the occupier (s). It is NOT a sign of leakage. Note that damage caused by condensation is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Please ensure you ventilate your trailer tent by using the ventilation points and the secondary mesh doors in the front and side doors on the awning canvas.

SEAMS

The main seams have been hot air taped to help prevent leakage. The remaining seams should be treated with a seam sealant to maximize the weather proofing.

Seam sealant should also be applied to main seams where the tape has lost adhesion or has been damaged (tie points or suspension points for example). Seam sealant is available to purchase from your SunnCamp stockist.

VALVES

Please note that the valves used on this product rely on a good air seal which can fail and become in effective if left under compression whilst in storage. To reduce the chance of valve malfunction, the valves should be fully unscrewed when the product is in storage. Replacement valves are available to purchase form your SunnCamp dealer.

Please note:
