ROLE:
1. / The Technician (AFC) is responsible to the Supervisor (AFC) for the day to day second line maintenance and repair of Ticket & Gating and related equipment and systems.
2. / The postholder will be based primarily in the AFC Workshop but will also be required, as necessary, to carry out maintenance, repair or modification work on site and therefore is required to hold a valid UK driving license for the class of vehicle provided.
3. / The postholder will hold an appropriate qualification to BTEC or equivalent in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. / Be responsible for carrying out and recording workshop repairs and adjustments to the full range of current and future AFC, and related equipment, sub-assemblies, printed circuit boards, etc, in accordance with laid down maintenance procedures or other specifications.
2. / Be familiar with and utilise the full range of personal computers used by the AFC Section including oscilloscopes, programmers, etc and record and bring to notice of the superior (AFC) any operational or calibration deficiencies in such test equipment.
3. / Assist in the development, manufacture, installation and evaluation of modifications to AFC and related equipment and if necessary assist in the preparation of reports.
4. / Maintain own records and assist with reports concerning the efficient maintenance of equipment records.
5. / When in the AFC Workshop monitor and, if necessary, replenish the stock of spare components, sub-assemblies, etc and, if necessary, bring any shortages or deficiencies in quality to the attention of the Supervisor (AFC)
6. / Work within an agreed shift roster and may be requested to return to work in cases of emergency or exceptional circumstances.
7. / Be required from time to time, to attend training courses, both in-house and at manufacturers and other premises, and to undertake or assist with the training of others in maintenance and servicing of equipment/systems.
8. / Assist with development work to AFC and related equipment if necessary, in conjunction with other members of the AFC Maintenance Team, staff from other Maintenance Delivery Sections, Contractors, Consultants or Manufacturers Representatives.
9. / Undertake, or assist with, modifications to AFC and related equipment if necessary, in conjunction with other members of the AFC Maintenance Team, staff from other Maintenance Delivery Sections, Contractors, Consultants or Manufacturers Representatives
10. / Undertake, or assist with, the installation, relocation or removal of AFC and related equipment including local cabling.
STATUTORY DUTIES:
1. / Responsible for managing those elements of the safety management system allocated to the Maintenance Delivery Department and specifically to the role of Technician (AFC) for the safe operation of Maintenance Delivery and associated projects.
2. / Responsible for carrying out duties and ensuring procedures are in place to meet legislative and company standards requirements for the DRI functions.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential
Hold a current UK Driving Licence.
Hold a BTEC qualification or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering.
Have previous experience and competence in related disciplines and have served a recognised apprenticeship.
Demonstrate a logical and systematic approach to problem solving.
Be computer literate

Demonstrate the evaluation and prioritising of work/tasks.
Demonstrate the ability to create and maintain information/records.
Be prepared to work rostered shifts and undertake emergency callout duties.
