Historic Savannah, GA

November 14, 15, 16- 2014

Overview

Georgia is the last of the original 13 Colonies and named after King George II in 1732. Savannah stands as one of America’s favorite cities. Embodied by the major themes of Enlightenment, Savannah is true to its founding.

“The famous Oglethorpe plan for Savannah … made a unique use of the square in the design, nothing like it having appeared in a town plan before or since. Here, in Savannah, the square by frequent repetition becomes an integral part of the street pattern and creates a series of rhythmically placed openings which give a wonderful sense of space in a solidly built townscape.” –Paul Zucker[6]

“… a plan so exalted that it remains as one of the finest diagrams for city organization and growth in existence.” –Edmund Bacon

John Muir, Sierra Club Founder states:

"…the rippling of living water, the song of birds, the joyous confidence of flowers, the calm undisturbed grandeur of the oaks, mark this place of graves as one of the Lord's most favored abodes of life and light."

Once the first State Capitol of Georgia, Savannah a strategic port city in the American Revolution and during the Civil War, is home to many people, places and events of our past. With its Spanish moss-covered live oaks and magnolias, more than 1,600 historic buildings and enchanting gardens, this port city is the picture of the old south blended with modern conveniences, famous eateries and trendy shops. The purpose of FUN, is to have some, come join US!
