BOARD MEETING MINUTES

The planning meeting of the Historic Kenwood Association, Board of Directors was held on

Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at 7:00 P.M. at Metro Wellness Center, 3251 3rd Ave N,

St Petersburg, FL 33713.

1.  Call to Order and approval of minutes: HKNA President B. Gordon called the meeting to order at 7:01 P.M.

Approval of August meeting minutes of Tuesday, August 29, 2017 Board meeting

2.  Treasurer report: Linda Kellett reported on the current budget (Attachments A, B & C).

3.  HK Partnership: Michelene explained CareFest and the activities taking place last Saturday, Sept 23, 2017. The team, including the HK Garden Club, worked on a house needing repair, paint, and garden landscaping. It may be a multiple visit project.

4.  Playground Volunteer Hours Documentation: Brenda explained the need to document volunteer hours to fulfill the playground matching grant requirements.

5.  AEHK Update: MJ will send out an email reminder for the next meeting, Tues, Oct. 10, 6 PM, 1950 Burlington. She will contact the Sept speakers to conduct their postponed workshop in October. Sept meeting was cancelled due to Irma. Charla Cribb reported more than twenty artists are interested in participating in the emerging artist showcase to be held Sat, December 9, 2017 from 11 AM -9 PM at Woodfield Fine Art Gallery.

6.  Kenwood Kidz: Charla Cribb reported plans for October’s Kidz Halloween program, Sat, Oct 14 in the park, as well as for the next two months.

7.  Nominating Committee Update: Carolyn reported eight people running for HKNA Board members.

8.  Public Art Project and Dining for Art: Brenda explained the Seminole Park bench art project and how it will be paid for through the Dining for Art fundraiser.

9.  HKNA Parking Violation Notices and Vote: Brenda explained the origin of the parking violation flyers handed out from years ago and asked for a motion to eliminate the current flyer.

A motion was made to archive the existing parking violation letter in the Board dropbox.

A motion was made to make the parking regulations available on the HKNA website and at the HKNA community information table at each HKNA general meeting.

10.  Street sign painting: Brenda reported the 4th Avenue HKNA street sign poles have been painted. New Historic Kenwood decals have been ordered to replace the hand-painted signage.

11.  October Candidates Forum Meeting Outline and Assignments: Brenda explained how the forum will be run by district and in alphabetical order, asked for volunteers for time keeper, etc. and asked to provide written announcements to distribute, as time will be limited.

12.  Hurricane Debris Pickup Notifications: Brenda reported that the city will give a date range to pick up debris so residents do not park in front of the piles of curbside debris.

13.  CONA Update: Michelene reported the candidate forum transpired smoothly last Wed.

14.  Halloween Decorating Contest: Brenda explained by Wed, Oct 25 houses must be decorated to be judged Thurs and Fri, Oct 26 and 27, 2017.

15.  October Food Host: Michelene reported Cappy’s Pizzeria, 2900 1st Avenue N, (727- 321-3020), will provide food for the general meeting Wed, Oct 4, 2017.

16.  Local Historical Designation First Public Meeting 10/10/17: Brenda announced the meeting will be at 2 PM at City Hall Council Chamber, Tues, Oct 10, 2017.

17.  November Speaker: Laura Duvekot, City of St Pete, Historic Preservation Department She will speak about the new renovations pattern book.

18.  Altis: Brenda asked for HKNA members to attend a ground breaking for new apartments at 369 33rd Street N at 11 AM, Wed, October 11, 2017.

19.  October Porch Party: Friday, October 13, 2017, 7 PM, at 2822 Burlington Ave N. Come in costume! Hosted by homeowners Wendy, Peter and Ian Burke. Bring a beverage and a dish to share.

20.  Adjournment: A motion was made by Charla and seconded by MJ Baker to adjourn the

meeting at 8:16 PM.
