Tuesday
We will look at comics and graphic novel pages and investigate the conventions of narratives in graphic form. Students will use the internet for resources. Cite internet sources properly.

Lesson Objective/Question: How do we create a visual narrative?
Area of Interaction: Approaches to Learning –How do I use Art to communicate to others?
Daily Agenda:
Look at scholastic magazines and begin investigating personal narrative base on personal heritage.
Have students brainstorm and create the framework for personal narratives to illustrate in comic/graphic style
Review framework document and put it into action. Interview family members and gather information
Wednesday
Students will begin to create a visual narrative related to their personal lives and histories. Heritage narratives using a wheel or chart to organize information.

Lesson Objective/Question: What is my heritage?
Area of Interaction: Approaches to Learning –How do I use Art to communicate to others?

Continue investigating personal narrative base on personal heritage.
Review framework document and put it into action. Interview family members and gather information, create thumbnails
Thursday
Heritage narratives. Symbol developments. Character development and sequencing.
Guiding Question: What is visual narrative and how is important to culture?
Lesson Objective/Question: What is my heritage?
Area of Interaction: Approaches to Learning –How do I use Art to communicate to others?
Daily Agenda:
Continue investigating personal narrative base on personal heritage.
Create thumbnails and personal symbols that will be incorporated into comic strip sheet

Heritage narratives. Symbol developments. Character development and sequencing. Begin layouts.
