Radiatorsmustbeinstocklocationand

anti-freezeMUSTcirculatethroughtheblockandthehead.

Driveline:

AnOEMtransmissionandtransfercasearemandatory.Theymusthavebeenanoption
onaonetonorsmallerpickup.

DriveShaftLoops:

AnyUjointthatisvisiblefromthesideofthetruckmustbeshieldedtocontaintheUjointand
endoftheshaft.Recommendedtobeatleastsixinchwideu-jointshields

aroundtherearu-jointconstructedofatleast¼inchsteelor3/8inchaluminumthatwill
safelycontaintheu-jointandtheendoftherearshaft.Allshieldsmustbesecurely
mountedtothevehicle.DriverRestraintSystem:

TheOEMrestraintsystemismandatoryandmustbeworn.

Engine:

Theengineislimitedtoastockappearing,OEMcompressionengine,availablefromthe
factoryinaonetonorsmallertruck.CubicInchlimitof444CI.Waterpumpsmaybeelectricor

factory.Electriccoolingfansarepermitted.No deck plate motors allowed.

Exhaust:

Allvehiclesmustbeequippedtodirectexhaustupward.Theexhaustmustexit
rearwardofthedriver’scompartment.Stacksexitingthroughthehoodorfenderwells
areprohibited.Ifthemufflerorcatalyticconverterhavebeenchangedfromstock,two

(2)3/8inchdiameterboltsmustbeinstalledthroughexhaustpipeinacrosspattern
withinone(1)inchofeachotherandasclosetotheturboaspractical. Boltheads
weldedtothepipe,orsheetmetalscrewstomimicthiswillbegroundsfor

disqualification.

FireExtinguisherSystem:

Afireextinguishersystemispermitted,itmustbesecurelymountedAllvehiclesare
recommendedtohaveatleasta2½lbextinguisherwithworkinggaugesecurely

mountedwithindriversreach.

Fuel:

Thefuelmustbepump#1,#2diesel,orSoy/Biodiesel.Mustbecommerciallyavailable
fuel.Fuelcellsmaybeusedinplaceofregularfueltank.Can be mounted anywhere but the cab.

FuelInjectionPump:

Thefuelinjectionpumpislimitedtocylindernumberspecific(I.E.6cylinderpumpon6

cylindermotor).TheuseofmultiplehighpressurecommonrailfuelpumpsorHPOPsarepermitted.
ThePpumpsthatareallowedarethep3000andthep7100.Aggovernorsareallowed.NoSigmaor
12cylinderpumpsallowed.

GeneralRules:

Allvehicles/driversmustcomplywithgeneralrules.

HarmonicBalancer:

Allenginesturningmorethan4500RPMmustbeequippedwithaharmonicbalanceror
dampenermeetingSFISpec18.1.

Hitch:

Thehitchmaybeareceiverstylehitch,reinforcementsarepermitted.Trickhitcheswillbe
determinedbytheTechOfficial.Thehitchmustbehorizontaltothegroundandstationaryinall

directions.Bumpermaybenotchedorremoved.Thehitch’sheightfromthegroundmaynotexceed
24inches.Thehookingpointmusthaveaminimumof3inchby3¾inchinsideopeningforthe
sledhookand can’t go above the frame. The hooking point must be a minimum of 44 inches from the center of the rear axle to the hooking point. May have drawbar type hitch. No part of the hitch can be above the frame rails. Drawbar angle must not exceed 25-degree angle from the pivot point to the hook point.

Intercoolers:Onlyairtoairintercoolersareallowed.Notypesofwatertoaircoolers,nospraybars
orwaterinjectionallowed.Noindividualrunnerintakesmanifoldsallowed.(ExampleZZcustom)

Interior:

Interiormaybestrippedwithjustadriver’sseatandadash.Handthrottlesarepermitted.

KillSwitches:

Alltrucksarerequiredtohavekillswitchlocatedonthebackofthetruck,locatednear
thehookingpoint.Ontruckswithanelectricinjectionfuelpumpsitmusthaveanelectric

shutoffordisconnectfortheinjectionpumponthebackofthetruck.Fortruckswith
manualinjectionpumpstheymusthaveanairguillotineofthespringloadedtype,no

butterflytypetokilltheairintaketotheengine.Itisrecommendedtohaveanairshutoffonalltrucks.

RearEnd:

NonOEMrear-endhousingsareprohibited.Therearendhousingsmusthavebeenforaonetonor
smallerpickuppickup.Rearaxleboltsmustbecoveredbyacaporshield.

SafetyEquipment:

Alldriversmustwearahelmet,andaSFI3.2aapprovedfirejacketandlongpants,not
necessarilyfiresuitpants.

Steering:

Thevehiclemustretainthefull,originalOEMsteeringgearbox.Additionalstabilizersarepermitted.
NonOEMpowerassistmethodsarepermitted.

Suspension-Front:

Thefactorysuspensionconfigurationmustberetained.Theuppermountingpointfor

strutassembliesmustbeinfactorylocation.Adjustablecaster/camberpillowballmountsare
permitted.Thelowercontrolarmmaybestrengthenedprovidedfactorymountingpointsare

maintained.Thelowermountingpointforthestrutassemblymaybemodifiedforimprovedcaster
andcamber.Struttowerbraces,lowertiebars,swaybars,andlimitstrapsarepermitted.Traction
barsanddevicesarepermitted.Airshocksareprohibited.MustbeanOEMfrontendhousing.
FinaldecisionsrestwiththeBattleoftheBluegrassTechDepartment.

Suspension-Rear:

AnOEMstylerearendismandatory.Tractionbarsanddevicesarepermitted,andweldsare
permittedforattachmenttotheframeoraxlehousing.Therearsuspensionmaybesolid.Airbag

springassistandairshocksisprohibited.

Tires:

ThetiresmustbeDOTstreettires,12.50X35inchmax.Cuttiresareprohibited.No

chainsorstuds.

No duals allowed.

TransferCase:Non-OEMtransfercasesareprohibited.Itmusthavebeenan
optiononaonetonorsmallerpickuptruck.

Transmission-Automatic:

Non-OEMtransmissionsareprohibited.Aftermarkettorqueconverters,valvebodies
andinternalcomponentsarepermitted.Transmissionbrakesareprohibited.Anynon-

OEMfloormountedautomaticshiftermustbeequippedwithaspring-loadedpositive
reverselockoutdevicetopreventtheshifterfromaccidentallybeingputintoreverse.A
functionalneutralsafetyswitchismandatory.Vehiclemustnotstartingear.All
transmissionlinesmustbemetallicorhighpressuretypehose.Allvehicleswithengines
running4500RPMormoreandusinganautomatictransmissionmustbeequippedwith

atransmissionshieldmeetingSFISpec4.1andmustbelabeledaccordingly.Ablanket
typeshieldispermitted,itmustbeappropriatelylabeledasmeetingSFISpec4.1andit

mustextendfromtherearoftheengineblockandextendrearwardtothetransmission
withaminimumofsix(6)inchoverlapwhereitisfastened.Allnon-blanketshieldsmust

incorporatetwo,(oronepermanufacturesinstruction)¾inchby1/8inchstrapsthatbolt

totheshieldoneachsideandpassunderthetransmissionpanunlessthetransmissionpanis
labeledasmeetingSFISpec4.1.Allvehicleswithenginesrunning4500RPMormoreandusingan

automatictransmissionmustbeequippedwithaflexplatemeetingSFISpec29.1andbecoveredby
aflexplateshieldmeetingSFISpec30.1.

Transmission-Manual:

availablemayuseaproperlyattachedSFI4.1or4.2blanketsthatcompletelycoverthebellhousing.
Itmustbeattachedtotherearoftheengineblockandextendrearwardtothetransmissionwitha
minimumofsix(6)inchoverlapwhereitisfastened.Alltransmissionsorclutchpedalswillhavea

safetyinterlockswitchsothatvehiclewillnotstartingear.

Turbocharger:

T-4mountingflangeisthelargestallowed.Turbosmustbeatrue2.5charger.Noclippedwheelsor
stepdowncovers.Billetcompressorwheelsareallowed.Asingle.200inchMWEgroovemaximum

allowedItmustbeintheneckofinducerborebehindfaceofthewheelin2.5area,noforwardfacing
MWEgrove.Inducerboremustbenon-removable.Allairmustgothroughthe2.5inducerboreand
theMWEgroove.Thewheelmustprotrudeintothe2.5bore1/8inch.Turbowillbecheckedwitha
2.550plugorinternalcalipers.Throat area of compressor cover may not exceed 5.5 inch diameter.

The 6.4 Power Stroke engine may utilize the factory twin turbo configuration. The driver will be responsible for making turbo accessible for tech personnel to measure and inspect.

WaterInjection:

Waterinjectionisprohibited.Allsystemcomponentsmustberemovedfromtruck.

Wheelbase:

Thevehiclemustretaintheoriginalfactorywheelbaseandtrackwidth.Cabandchassistrucksmay
notexceed172inchescentertocenterofaxles.Frontdual-wheelspacersmaybeusedonlywith
accompanyingpositive-offsetduallystylewheels.
