Hints: I’m not guaranteeing that each of of these hinted-at errors occur.

Watch forintroductory elements not punctuated with a comma.

Watch out for hyphen issues: phrases where hyphens are needed; phrases where they are not needed.

Be sure and review 2379 house style (see the schedule). Several issues listed there are at work here.

Remember that if you have two elements (other than two independent clauses), you do not want to punctuate with a comma.

Watch for inconsisent caps — on several levels — and unnecessary caps.

Watch for comma splices.

Watch for inconsistency in the use of bold. Use bold only when the instructions tell the user to press or click something.

Watch for the problem involving the sentence-ending dependent clause. If the sentence reads okay wihout it, it is nonrestrictive and can take a comma. If the sense of the sentence is wrecked by excluding it, it is restrictive and should not be punctuated.

Operating the SmartSet AM/FM Clock Radio

The SmartSet AM/FM clock radio is easy to read and to operate. The large red display is visible in a darkened room. This is a great clock for the people who are visually impaired, or just blurry-eyedwhen awakened from a sound sleep. You should know how to read time, have some experience setting a digital clock, etc. The best feature about this clock is that it automatically sets itself to the correct year, month, day, and time after you set it up the first time. The procedures below explain how to set-up the clock for your time zone, and then how to use it’s many features.

Install the Clock

Before you can set the clock radio you must plug it into a power source that is always live. Do not connect it to an outlet that is controlled by a wall switch. When the power to the clock radio is interrupted thebuilt inLithium battery takes over to maintain the time and alarm settings.

To install the clock radio, do the following;

  1. Place the clock on level surface.
  2. Plug in the AC line cord into an electrical outlet. The clock display will light up indicating that the power is on.

Note: This cord is polarized, this means the cord will only fit one way into the socket or wall outlet. Do not force the plug into the wall socket. Reverse the plug and try again.

Setting the time zone for your area

The first time you plug your Smartset clock radio into the AC outlet, the internal computer will automatically set the correct time for the Eastern Time Zone. The following procedure describes how to change the default zone setting to display the Time Zone for your area.

To set the time zone for your area, do the following:

  1. Press the TIME ZONE button.
  2. While holding the TIME ZONE button down, press the SET + or – buttons until your own time zone appears on the display, and then release the buttons.

Note: The clock display will change to the correct time in the time zone you selected. The clock will always return to the correct time in the zone you selected, after every power interruption.
