BONUS POINTS FOR HIGHER LEVEL MATHEMATICS
Students applying to AIT will be awarded bonus points if they sit the Higher Level Mathematics exam in the Leaving Certificate. Bonus points will be awarded irrespective of the year in which the examination was taken.
A standard 25 bonus points will be awarded for H6 and above, irrespective of the grade achieved. There will be no bonus points awarded for H8.
Applicants to the CAO will, as always, count the score from their six best subjects. If Higher Level Mathematics is not among these six subjects, the bonus points will NOT be included in the total points score.

LEAVING CERTIFICATE VOCATIONAL PROGRAMME
The LCVP module will be considered as a passing subject provided the learner achieves at least a pass grade. This will apply to entry for Honours Degree (Level 8), Ordinary Degree (Level 7) and Higher Certificate (Level 6) academic programmes.
The following points scoring system will be used:
Pass - 28 points
Merit - 46 points
Distinction - 66 points
LEAVING CERTIFICATE APPLIED PROGRAMME (LCAP)
The Leaving Certificate Applied Programme does not meet minimum entry criteria. Holders of this award may wish to consider taking a QQI-FETA Level 5 in order to meet eligibility for third-level programmes at this Institute.
FOUNDATION LEVEL SUBJECTS
Foundation Level Mathematics will meet minimum entry requirements in respect of the following programmes:
AL860 BA (Hons) in Social Care Practice
AL861 BA (Hons) in Animation and Illustration
AL763 BA in Graphic Design
AL764 BA in Early Years Care and Education
AL765 BA in Applied Social Studies in Social Care
AL660 Higher Certificate in Arts in Culinary Arts
AL661 Higher Certificate in Arts in Bar Supervision.
Points will be awarded as follows

A1 / F1 / 20
A2/B1 / F2 / 12
Foundation Level Irish at minimum F2, will meet the minimum language requirement. No points are awarded.
QQI-FETA (formerly FETAC) Level 5 Awards
The following entry arrangements apply to graduates ofQQI FETA (formerly FETAC)awards seeking admission to programmes at Institutes of Technology.
  • Higher Certificate (Level 6) and ab initio Ordinary Degree (Level 7) programmes is a full QQI FETAC (level 5 or 6) award.
  • Ab-initio Honours Degree (Level 8) programmes is a full QQI FETA (Level 5 or 6) award including a Distinction grade in at least three modules.
In these cases, a general specific requirement for mathematics or a language will not apply. Notwithstanding the minimum entry requirements listed above, entry to year 2 and subsequent years may have specific pre-requisite QQI FETA modules or QQI FETA programme requirements
Note that a full QQI FETA award normally contains 8 modules. A full award may be accumulated over more than one academic year. In such cases, it is the responsibility of the applicant to apply to QQI for a full award where programmes are taken over more than one year. A record of achievement does not meet these minimum entry standards.
