NOTICE OF RACE

Highcliffe Sailing Club shall host the Phantom and Europe National Championships

8th-10th September 2017

TheOrganisingCommittee (OC) is Highcliffe Sailing Club (HSC) working in collaboration with the Phantom and Europe UK Class Associations (BCA) and Royal Yachting Association (RYA)

1RULES

1.1Theregattawill begoverned bytherules asdefined inTheRacing Rules ofSailing (RRS).

2FORMATAND SCHEDULE OFRACES

There shall be no warning signal after 3pm on 10th September 2016

3RACINGAREA

3.1Approx 1 mile south of the entrance to Christchurch Harbour within Christchurch Bay

4THECOURSE

Phantom Course Options

Course A will be 1p, 2p, 3p, 1p, 3p, 1p, 2p, 3p Finish

Course B will be 1p, 3p, 1p, 2p, 3p, 1p, 3p, Finish

Course C will be 1p 3p (repeat until shortened course flag is raised)

Europe Course

1p 2p, 3p, 1p, 3p, 1p, 2p, 3p Finish

5MARKS

5.1Marks 1,2 and 3 shall be large orange tetrahedrons. The starting mark shall be a danbuoy with orange flag. The finish mark shall be a danbuoy with blue flag. Alternative marks will be yellow cylinders.

6THESTART

6.1Raceswillbestartedbyusingrule26withthewarningsignalmade five(5)minutesbeforethestartingsignal.

6.2Thestartinglinewillbebetweena staffdisplayingan orangeflag ontheracecommittee signalboatat the starboardend and the start mark described in 10.1

6.3The Europe Class shall follow the Phantom Class if there is a General recall the Phantom start will be completed before the Europe start.

7THEFINISH

Thefinishinglinewillbebetweena staffdisplayinganblueflag on aracecommittee boatatthestarboard endand a dan buoy at the port.

8SCORING

8.1The Low point scoring system will be used.

8.2Whenfewerthanfive(5)raceshavebeencompleted,aboat’sseriesscorewillbe the total ofher race scores.

Whenfive(5)toseven(7)raceshavebeencompleted,aboat’sseriesscorewillbethetotalofherracescoresexcludingherworstscore.

Wheneight(8)raceshavebeencompleted,aboat’sseriesscorewillbethetotalofherracescoresexcludinghertwoworstscores.

9SAFETYREGULATIONS

9.1While afloatcompetitors mustwearadequate personalbuoyancyunderallcircumstances.

10REGATTASPONSOREDADVERTISING

Boats shalldisplayadvertising if suppliedbythe OA.

11SUPPORTBOATS

11.1All supportboatsshall be registered withtheOA beforelaunching.

11.2Exceptin caseofemergency,teamleaders,coachesand othersupport personnelshallstayatleast50 metersoutsideareaswhereboatsare racingandshallnotcommunicate withboatsfromthetimeofthepreparatorysignaluntilallboatshavefinishedor retired or the racecommittee signalsa postponement, generalrecall orabandonment.

11.3Supportboats shallbemarked withthenationalflag ofthecountrytheyrepresent.

11.4Supportboats should beprepared to offer assistanceto competing boatsin theeventofadverse weatherifrequested todo so by therace committee.

12TRASHDISPOSAL

Trash maybe placedaboard supportandracecommittee boats.Apenalty ofbreakingrule 55maybe lessthan qualificationiftheprotestcommittee so decides.

13PRIZES

Prices and trophies shall be awarded at the prize giving ceremony in the club house on the final day of the event

14SOCIAL

There will be a meal provided in the clubhouse on Friday evening and a BBQ on Saturday evening.

15DISCLAIMEROFLIABILITY

Competitors participatein the regatta entirelyattheirownrisk.Seerule4,DecisiontoRace. TheOA willnotacceptanyliabilityformaterialdamage orpersonalinjury ordeath sustainedin conjunctionwithorpriorto,during,oraftertheregatta.

16INSURANCE

Eachparticipatingboatshallbeinsured withvalidthird-partyliability insurancewithaminimumcoverof£3,000,000 perincidentorthe equivalent.
