Los Angeles Youth Council Application

2015-2017Term

For students committed to promoting civic engagement and raising awareness
on policies that affect youth in Los Angeles.

Requirements:

-High school students in the 10th or 11th grade

-Must live in the City of Los Angeles

-Able to commit 1 year of participation and 1 year of mentorship

-Maintain a 2.75 unweighted GPA

-Attach an unofficial transcript

-Attach 1 letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, employer, or advisor

-Return completed application by the February 16th, 2015deadline

Expectations:

-Attend monthly meetings under the advisement of your Area Representative

-Attend quarterly meetings with the other Youth Council members of the City of Los Angeles

-Conduct research on issues affecting youth in your area

-Attend City Council meetings

-Perform community service with fellow Youth Council members

-Promote civic engagement (i.e. organizing community service events, public forums, or demonstrations)
