Sportsmanship & Waiver Information

The goal of the Centex Summer Basketball Program is to provide area athletes will an opportunity to increase fundamental skills and improve team play through competitive competition. Participants, coaches, and fans are expected to behave in a manner which would be appropriate at all UIL events. ANY unsportsmanlike conduct such as profanity, fighting, taunting other players or officials will result in the ejection of player, coach, or spectator.

THIS WAIVER MUST BE SIGNED BY THE PLAYER AND THE PARENT.

I acknowledge the risks and hazards associated with the participation in basketball and in the Centex Summer Basketball League. Furthermore, I assume all responsibility for my or my child’s participation in this league, and for any injury which might result from that participation. I hereby release the league organizers, coaches, school districts, administrators and employees from any and all liability that might arise from any personal injury that might occur due to my or my child’s participation in this basketball league. I also agree to be responsible for any property damage that I may cause by my intentional or negligent acts.

Centex Summer Basketball League

Rules & Expectations

  • All players and fans are expected to show proper sportsmanship at all times during the league.
  • The team listed first on the schedule is considered the home team. All home teams are asked to provide a person to keep the book/clock for that game.
  • Players will be given 5 fouls. Fouls are to be reported to the scorers table. Athletes will foul out of the game when they exceed five fouls.
  • In sub varsity games, when a team is down by 20 points or more, the clock will continue to run throughout the remainder of the game. The score may be reset at half time, points awarded on a reduced basis depending upon the discretion of the officials and/or the book/score keeper. The goal of the Centex league is to help teach the game of basketball and not to humiliate beginning players.
  • Varsity and JV teams will play 2- 20 minute halves. In the first half, the bench must be cleared at 15 minutes, 10 minutes, and 5 minutes. In the second half, the bench must be cleared at 15 minutes and 10 minutes. Coaches may sub at their discretion for the remaining minutes of the game.
  • The clock will be stopped the last 2 minutes of EACH half. Each team will have a total of 2 time outs.
  • Middle School teams will play 2 -16 minute halves. In the first half, players will be subbed or the bench cleared at 12 minutes, 8 minutes, and 4 minutes. In the second half, subs must be made at 12 minutes. A coach may then sub freely the last 8 minutes of the game.
  • All free throws being shot during the running clock portion of each half will beawarded 1 point. During the last two minutes of each half, all free throws will be shot according to normal regulations.
  • No profanity. No arguing or questioning officials or coaches.
  • Teams will shake hands after each game, and clean up your bench area after the game.
