Exotic Cars

Phase 1

There are some really great engineered cars that are on the market for people to buy. I have seen some very efficient cars, but someone has to purchase a well-rounded vehicle. I like that a fast car that can get you places quickly, but I would rather not have to worry about safety. There are many pictures of cars that were not safe and the accident that resulted were not that good. Many people like to drive fast cars that can get them places quickly, however most would prefer to not question the safety of their vehicle.

High end automobile as well as don’t have great safety features because the companies want to be able to push their cars to what they believe is the limit. For example, I believe that high end motor vehicle companies want to compete against each other to try to produce a better car than their competitors. Each continues to improve their technology and engineer to make the vehicles even safer, reliable and efficient.

There are automobiles in the world right now that are good for the environment, but also can be enjoyed by many motor vehicle lovers. There is more eco-friendly transportation use less gasoline, yet they can get the same performance as other transportation. In the new BMW 5 series they are using some of the technology that they used for the 7 series. Also they are changing the type of engine so it can become more eco-friendly (2011 BMW 5-serious). People, who purchase vehicles that have eight mile per gallon (mpg) tanks, should reinvest in cars that have better gas mileage because they could save a lot of money. It’s high end cars also referred to as supercars, allow drivers to have a car that gets better stability as well as have better fuel economy. I have a passion for different vehicles and I believe that people should drive a fuel economic automobile.

Phase 2

I chose to write about the engineering of high end motor vehicles because I am really interested in different types. I would like to learn more about how they design different automobiles. I also want to research how companies use the technology and how businesses get high end transportation to stay so secure when they are at high speeds. I am motivated me to learn more about this topic because I know people that have high end cars and I am fascinated about how they are made. I hope to learn how manufactures, make their vehicles balanced to reach incredible speeds, yet providing unparallel safety. In addition, I am curious to know how companies are able to design the body of the motor vehicle in unique ways so they are able to reach high speeds, while still garroting the vehicles stability. I chose this topic because I am fascinated by the thought process, the design, and the testing that goes into making high end cars great.

Phase 3

In the world today manufactures have come so far with many different types of cars from the early 1900’s to the early 2000’s. The change in car manufacturing and design has increased tremendously over the last one hundred years. The way that companies have come up with the technology to get cars those are as stable as the Bugatti Veyron to reach incredible speeds. Manufactures should be able to make more stable and safe cars so that people who are driving them feel safer.

The 2007 Bugatti Veyron is one of my favorite cars on earth. While I was researching information about the vehicle I found that it had a top speed of 253 miles per hour. Bugatti has found new ways of keeping this car from flying off the ground they use a computer where it makes the Veyron get 3.5 inches from the ground (Bugatti Veyron). I found out that it’s able to do things that not very many cars, so I began with my research with this high-end car as my focus. I like this car because of the design is as well as its powerful engine. Manufactures continue to come up with creative ways to improve these vehicles, as this is why I like high end cars so much. I believe that one day car companies will engineer really incredible machines.

While I was researching I found that it was hard to come up with certain vehicles that are both very stable but others that are not as stable to use to prove how stable cars have to be safe. Some things that helped me with my research was that the articles provided specific information about the cars that helped me a lot. The most helpful resource that I found were magazines and the internet sites that give me helpful information about different cars. I also found that every day cars, like BMW or Mercedes, can make high end cars that are safe and stable.

Phase 4

There are well engineered cars that are unsafe because as the performance has increased, the safety of the car has decreased. In the high end cars engineers have been able to get cars to reach outstanding speeds but some of them are very unsafe. I think these motor vehicle companies should make safe and well engineered high end cars.

I have a limited knowledge of safety in exotic cars even though I have always been very interested in them. After researching this, I think that it’s truly amazing what the engineers of motor vehicles have achieved for the advancement in technology of different cars. One superformance car that is truly amazing is the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo. This car is very well engineered because of the power that it has as well as the stability that it has to reach the high speed of 250 miles per hour. Saleen is constantly trying to improve the engineering technology of their cars which is evident by the improvement in aerodynamics and stability performance between the 2002 and 2006 models. (’06 Saleen)

The Lamborghini Murcielago is an extraordinary car because its performance is superior to most other cars on the road. It does however have a possible downside. In an article that I found it says “Neither the federal government nor insurance industry has crash tested the ’09 Murcielago” (09 Lambo. Murcielago). If I had done research before I was going to buy this car I wouldn’t pursue the purchase knowing the lack of safety testing.

The very new Lamborghini Reventon is an exclusive vehicle because they have only made 20 of them. The rarity of the car has allowed Lamborghini to use a unique material for the car’s design. The article says that “The exterior of the Reventon is formed by carbon fiber material also known as CFC” (’09 Lambo. Reventon). The reason that Lamborghini does that is to reduce the weight and make the car stronger. As a result the safety of this high performance vehicle is improved.

At first I thought that the Nissan GT-R was a Skyline. I found out that it only looked like a Skyline but in fact was one of the most advanced cars developed by any manufacturer. At the time that it was developed, it used the most advanced automotive technology in the world. The technology from these exotic cars manufactures eventually flows through to the mass production cars from a safety, performance and technological point of view. For a mass produced car it is very safe, is well balanced, and has a high performance.

The new Lamborghini Gallardo is very stable at the high speeds that it hits. They have tested the crashing on the car so that it is a lot safer than before. It has dropped in weight by 44 pounds and has a bigger engine in the vehicle. (2010 Lamborghini Gallardo). In both the Lamborghini and the Ford GT both companies have changed both bodies so that they are more stable and aerodynamic. The Ford GT is an amazing American muscle car that has great performance as well as being able to be stable at the top speed. It has two big air intakes in the front of the car which helps to get air flow into the engine of the car. It has specific type of suspension which use coils to balance the car while it’s going at high speeds and through corners. (Ford GT)

While researching my topic I was pleasantly surprised to find so much information about my subject. Many different car company’s make later models of the cars to improve the stability, safety and engineering of a car to make car lovers more excited about the new technology. One thing that really shocked mewhile I was doing research for the Lamborghini Murcielagowas that Lamborghini never had it thoroughly go through crash testing. Upon bringing out the Gallardo, its biggest seller, Lamborghini learned from its mistake with the Murcielago. It ensured that this car passed the “federal government or insurance industry” (2009 Lamborghini Murcielago) crash and safety test. I think that this shows that manufactures have developed a greater sense of responsibility, and have come a long way from having cars that were unsafe at high speeds to having the best safety in cars that we know today. I assumed thatwhen the performance increases in these fast cars, stability and safety decreases. That is not true because car companies have made their own cars very safe and stable even though exotic cars reach high speeds. Another concept that is interesting to me is that the Nissan GT-R, a superformance vehicle, passed some of its technology down to “the Infiniti G series” (2009 Nissan GT-R), a mass production car. I think that this represents the flow of safety and technology from exotic vehicles to mass productions cars. The most important thing that I will take away from this research paper is the technology that is created to make these cars go very fast but as well as being very stable and aerodynamic so that people can feel safe while driving.
