Hi I am Friar Lawrence, At first I am collecting Herbs for my potions that I make.
I agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet when Romeo asked me to, at first I asked him why he wanted to do this so early after loving Roseline so much as he was always going on about her, and saying how much he loved her, and now he wanted to marry Juliet; the reason I agreed is because I thought it would heal the rivalry that was going on between the two families which they cam from – Montagues and Capulets.
I marry Romeo and Juliet, I say “these violent delights have violent ends, meaning their passion is too hot and too violent and will end in death, Romeo also says the words “love devouring death”
Romeo came to my house and he was feeling sorry for himself, he saw banishment as death, I had to persuade him to come to his senses. He was saying that banishment is crueller than death for him, “Ha, banishment? Be merciful, say ‘death’ ” because he cannot see Juliet anymore, but yet is still alive
He says “there is no world without Verona”
He says that Banishment is banished from the world, “and world’s exile is death”
So, I persuaded him to go to Juliet but leave by dawn, then go to Mantua until he was sent for.
Juliet came to me and told me that her mother and father wanted her to marry Paris, well in fact, they were forcing her to, I came up with a plan to give her a drug which makes her look as if she is dead, then she would be buried in the Capulets tomb, then Romeo could go and see her when the affects of the drug wares off and she will be awake.
I arrange for Juliets body to be taken to the tomb, Lord Capulet – Juliets father – personifies death, saying that death took his daughter, he still thinks Juliet is a virgin.
I gave a message to my servant but it didn’t get to Romeo, so Romeo didn’t know that it was my potion that made her ‘look’ dead, but he thought she was actually dead.
So Romeo went to the tomb thinking that Juliet was dead, he discovered that Paris was also at the tomb, Paris didn’t want Romeo there, he said because he killed Tybault – his relative - and that Romeo was Banished. Romeo didn’t want to fight Paris, Saying that he was closer than he thought, -meaning he was part of the family (Married To Juliet)
Paris thought Romeo wanted to vandalise the grave, so they fought, and Paris died, but he told romeo to put him next to Juliet, which Romeo did being the kind person he is.
Romeo killed himself at the sight of Juliet dead, by drinking poison.
When Juliet woke up and saw Romeo dead, she killed herself, she kissed Romeo hoping that there was still some poison on his lips “I will kiss thy lips: Haply some poison yet doth hang on them to make m die with a restorative” But it doesn’t work so she stabs herself with Romeos dagger.
